Kai sat at the nurse's station with a frown over his face as he read the text message Mika had sent to him.
Nancy walked up with Alex, who was moved to work on Kai's unit after Liam quit, both sitting down at the desk behind him.
Kai was happy to have both Alex and Nancy as his CNAs at the nursing home, though he did miss working with Liam every night.
"You look upset," Alex pointed out after he took a seat.
"Yeah," Kai said with a sigh. "My sister is getting married to a guy who did some bad stuff. She forgave him and is still gonna marry him."
"What?" Nancy said, gasping. "Mika is engaged? When did that happen?"
"Not too long ago. Apparently she had been dating the guy in secret for a few years. She just told me."
"In secret? That's rather odd. Why would she keep the guy a secret?"
"It's complicated," Kai replied.
