Working at a nursing home on Christmas was probably the least exciting way to spend the holiday, but the residents required care no matter what the occasion may have been.
Nancy brought in a large bakery cake from her car after all the residents had gone to bed for the night.
Kai looked down at the cake that she set on the counter. As he placed his hand under his chin, his eyes widen. "Merry Christmas and Happy Retirement, Liam!" He read the message stenciled on top of the cake.
"I'm not retiring," Liam laughed. "I'm not even close to retirement age."
"Whatever," Nancy shrugged. "It's your last day here, so eat some of the cake."
Liam took the lid off of it and then sliced himself a large piece. "Yeah, I'm down for cake."
As the taller man devoured a ton of cake, Kai heard his phone ring. Nancy rolled her eyes because of the music.
He saw it was Mika, so he answered the phone. "What's up?"
