The couple spent the evening making dinner for their guest. Brenda was ecstatic when she got a call from her son inviting her over for the evening.
Kai decided to go all out. He had gone to the grocery store and purchased filet mignon. He figured a nice steak dinner might cheer her up a bit. It had also been a long time since he had had steak himself.
Growing up, steak wasn't something his mom cooked often, as she preferred to make Asian dishes most of the time.
Kai didn't want to mess it up, so he was seated in a chair in the dining room, looking up YouTube videos about how to perfectly cook a steak.
He had his hand on his chin, nodding subtly, as he watched the YouTuber cook it.
"Medium rare would be best," he muttered to himself.
Liam had put on his glasses. He had picked up a newspaper to read over at the store. He had the paper open, his eyes narrowing on the comics section.
Really, he just wanted to read the comics.
