Liam sighed as he closed the door of Kai's apartment behind him. He didn't really know what he was doing, but he needed some time to think, and he hadn't checked in on his mother in awhile.
He was worried about her. He knew it was her decision to stay with him, but he didn't trust Larry.
That man was terrible. There may have been worse monsters in the world, but the kind of man who would abuse a woman wasn't one he could ever feel anything but disdain for.
He walked to his truck and hopped in. After lighting up a cigarette and rolling the window down, he drove off.
It seemed his addiction to Kai was overshadowing his addiction to the cancer sticks. Before long, he wouldn't even feel the need to smoke if things kept up.
It was a net positive for his life.
