Kai squinted at the clock as he scanned his badge.
He didn't have time to talk to Liam after the phone call. Work had picked up, and they were too busy until the day shift staff came in.
Even the increased workload didn't wake Kai up. He definitely was not alert. He may not have even been oriented at that point. He needed to sleep. But he was worried.
The phone call sounded pretty serious, just from the reaction Liam had when he answered and the look on his face he had seen in passing when he would pass him in the hall as they worked.
Kai sighed. Liam didn't even wait for him in the break room. He wondered if he decided to go home instead or had to leave. It made him worry anymore.
He closed his eyes and gently smacked both of his cheeks a few times in rapid succession. He needed to wake up. He needed coffee or an energy drink.
Something. Anything that would jolt him awake.
