Liam took Kai's hand and led him out of the house. He helped Kai into the car and then got in, immediately driving off. He didn't say anything. He didn't know what he could possibly say. He was still upset. He was mad.
Kai sat quietly, his gaze focused out the window.
"Are you okay?"
"I don't know," Kai murmured.
"Do you need anything?"
"I need you to hold me," Kai whispered.
"Of course," Liam nodded, his hand reaching out and resting on top of Kai's.
Kai looked down at their hands and gave Liam a weak smile.
"Are you tired?"
"No," Kai shook his head.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," Kai sighed.
"Are you okay?"
"Kind of," Kai mumbled.
"I'm sorry."
"What?"
"I shouldn't have gotten involved," Liam frowned.
"You didn't," Kai said.
"But I did."
"It's fine."
"It's not."
"Liam, you did the right thing," Kai whispered.
"I know."
"Then, don't apologize."
