"Kai, what is it?" Liam asked.
Kai shook his head. The words wouldn't escape his throat.
He placed the frame back in the box, hastily placing the lid back over it. He would just leave it in the box for all of eternity.
Jayden groaned, leaning closer to her wife. "Is that what I think it is?"
Sam nodded.
Jayden furrowed her brows, her lips turning downward as she looked at her wife.
As Jayden stood up, Liam could sense tension between the two married women. Something was off. He felt a knot form in his stomach as he watched the events unfold.
He made an attempt to ignore his feelings, throwing back the remainder of his whisky.
The stiff drink was helping him not to dwell too heavily on the evening as they were still in a public space, and he didn't feel appropriate expressing his feelings on his partner's birthday.
It was supposed to be a fun day, but it was turning out to be anything but fun.
