Liam and Kai stood there looking at a group of chimpanzees. One of the chimps had just taken a giant shit and was gathering it in its fist, rolling it into balls.
"This is just like Shady Pines," Kai joked as he watched it throw the ball of shit at another chimp.
"That's so gross," Liam laughed. "What a lovely ball of shit. He has wonderful aim."
"That's nature," Kai shrugged. "A very disgusting display of nature."
Liam nodded. "At least they aren't jacking off this time."
Kai felt grateful for that. The shit was funny, but if a chimp was tugging at his own dick, it would make him feel uncomfortable. He was sure Liam had seen it before. Instead of asking about it, he decided to change the subject.
"Did you ever wonder what you would have done if you hadn't become a CNA?" Kai asked.
"All the time," Liam sighed. "I used to think I was going to be a doctor, but it was never something I was really interested in. It's too much school, and I didn't want to be dying in debt."
"I use to want to own a bookstore," Kai admitted.
"That would have been fun," Liam smiled.
"It would have been a great," Kai nodded. "I wanted to own a bookstore that sold a lot of manga."
"But not as rewarding as helping the elderly," Liam replied.
"True," Kai agreed.
"Though, I guess all I do as a CNA is clean up shit," Liam sighed.
"You do more than that," Kai frowned.
"I do know that," Liam responded.
"It's rewarding," Kai assured him. "The old lady's love you."
"I'm not saying it isn't," Liam stated. "But cleaning up shit is the least rewarding thing I can think of."
"It's not easy work," Kai responded. "I already have a bad back. Someone has to do it."
"Yeah, that's true," Liam sighed.
"And the elderly love us," Kai smiled.
"We are the only ones that can put up with their literal and figurative shit," Liam joked.
"That's also true," Kai laughed. "Someone has to deal with the overflowing shit."
Kai flopped onto a nearby bench. He was tired of watching the monkey shitball fights. Liam sat next to him.
"Have you ever wanted to go back to school?" Kai asked.
"No, have you?"
"Yeah, sometimes," Kai nodded.
"To do what?"
"Maybe to become a nurse practitioner," Kai answered.
Kai had thought about it a lot. He wasn't sure he wanted that level of responsibility. As it were, he could just work three days a week and be done with it. If he were an NP, he would have to work countless hours and deal with an on-call rotation.
"I don't want to work with some dickhead doctor," Kai commented.
"I wouldn't want that either," Liam agreed.
"Maybe I'll go back to school one day," Kai said. "I have no motivation."
"That would be awesome," Liam smiled. "If you were an NP, you could treat me. You would be my personal, sexy NP."
"You think I'm sexy?" Kai asked.
"Of course I do," Liam nodded.
"You are a dork," Kai laughed.
"What do you find attractive about me?" Liam asked.
"Are you fishing for compliments?" Kai asked with a raised brow.
"No, I just want to know," Liam replied.
"Your face," Kai smiled. "You're so handsome."
"Is that all?" Liam asked as he ran his fingers through his dark hair.
"I like the way you smile," Kai started with a subtle nod. "You're also funny, even though you call me a bitch far too often."
"And what else is there?"
"That's it," Kai shrugged.
"You are such a liar," Liam laughed. "There has to be something else."
"Whatever," Kai mumbled. "You're hot. I want to see your muscles."
"I'll show you them, all right," Liam smirked as he looked into the blonde's green eyes.
"No," Kai shook his head. "I shouldn't have said that."
"You're so cute," Liam smirked. "The cutest I've seen."
"Please stop calling me cute," Kai begged.
"You are," Liam insisted. "You know you're cute."
"What else is there about me?" Kai questioned.
"Everything," Liam shrugged.
"Everything?" Kai looked at him in disbelief.
"Yes, your body is perfect, and I want to fuck your brains out," Liam answered. "You will scream my name."
"Oh my god," Kai blushed. "D-Did you really just?"
"I've made you blush again," Liam teased.
"Why are you always doing this to me?" Kai frowned.
"You are just fun to mess with," Liam stated.
"Asshole," Kai mumbled.
"Don't pretend you don't like it," Liam nudged him.
"Yeah, okay, whatever," Kai sighed.
Kai was totally embarrassed by Liam's comment. He wasn't opposed to such a thing, but he felt he might not be ready for it. He had spent his entire life without that level of intimacy, so he felt shy admitting to it being something he may want to experience. He didn't even know completely how it worked between two men, though, as it was never something he had thought about.
He was now thinking about it. There was a hole. He knew that much about it. His body was reacting. How embarrassing.
"Are you okay?" Liam asked him, noticing his body had reacted to what he had said.
Liam thought to himself that was what Kai got for wearing skinny jeans.
"Yeah, sorry," Kai nodded.
"What are you thinking about?" Liam questioned.
Kai sighed. Of course Liam would keep trying to prod him and get his thoughts out. That was the way he was. He was good at making him feel even more awkward.
"Nothing," Kai lied.
"Really? Because you look a little turned on," Liam stated. "Your body tells me that."
"Oh, yeah, I was just thinking," Kai stammered.
"Thinking about what?" Liam stared at him as he spoke, which made Kai feel shy.
Kai was never good at making eye contact with people. His anxiety usually got the best of him.
"Nothing," Kai mumbled.
"It's obviously something," Liam replied. "I bet you're thinking of me being on top of you."
"Sort of," Kai admitted.
"Want to talk about it?" Liam grinned.
"Not really," Kai responded. "No."
"Why not?"
"I feel stupid," Kai explained.
"You can talk to me," Liam told him. "I won't judge you. We'll, I may, but I won't care."
"I wasn't sure how it worked," Kai whispered. "I don't know how to go about it."
"That's fine," Liam responded. "Sex is
simple. Just do what feels good. If you enjoy something, keep doing it."
"It's kind of scary," Kai admitted. "How would you even know what to do?"
"It's not as scary as it sounds," Liam stated.
"I'm not scared of having sex," Kai replied. "I'm scared of making a fool of myself."
"It's normal to be scared," Liam told him.
"Do you ever get scared of embarrassing yourself?" Kai asked.
"Everyone gets nervous about embarrassing themselves," Liam answered.
"But does it ever not work right?" Kai questioned.
"Does it have to work a certain way?"
"Yes, if it doesn't, you are just stuck there," Kai nodded. "If you're messing up, what if the partner is disappointed? You're stuck. If they left, like, in the middle of it, you'd want to die."
"Sometimes, you have to improvise," Liam chuckled. "You can't really mess up that badly."
"Improvise?" Kai cocked his head to the side.
"How the hell do you improvise that?"
"Just go with the flow," Liam shrugged. "Feel the mood with your soul or some shit."
"It sounds stressful," Kai sighed. "Too stressful."
"It's simple," Liam insisted.
"It's not as simple as you make it sound," Kai replied. "It's probably rather nuanced."
"Okay," Liam nodded. "If you are scared, we can wait."
"You want to have sex with me?" Kai asked. "I thought you were joking."
"Yeah," Liam nodded. "Badly."
"Right now?" Kai looked around frantically at the rather crowded public setting.
"No," Liam laughed. "I meant eventually."
"Thank God. This is a zoo."
"No shit," Liam laughed. "You don't want an arrest to happen your first time fucking."
"I would have a criminal record," Kai chuckled. "Public indecency."
"You're so damn dumb," Liam joked. "That's some of the dumbest shit I've ever heard."
Kai didn't notice Liam calling him dumb; not that it was anything new. They called each other names all the time, which was a joke. Instead, he couldn't stop thinking about being in bed with Liam. He didn't know why he was thinking about it so much.
"We should probably go to the ice cream stand," Liam said.
"Sure," Kai nodded.
Liam noticed the bulge was still there. He felt guilty, knowing it was his fault, and he couldn't do anything about it. Not that he was going to even attempt it until he knew Kai was ready. He figured it was a long way off.
"Let's go," Liam smiled, grabbing Kai's hand and pulling him along the path.
The pair met back with Mika and Michael at the ice cream stand. Michael was wearing a panda hat and eating an ice cream cone. Kai smiled at the boy, glad that his little nephew seemed to have been having a great time with his mother.
"You two are late," Mika stated, looking between Kai and Liam. "Did you have fun?"
"Sure," Kai nodded. "Michael, that hat is cute."
"Thanks," Michael simply stated.
"Did you two finally bang?" Mika asked, taking a lick of her own ice cream cone.
She licked that cone for far too long.
"Oh my god," Kai groaned. "Mika. Stop. This is a zoo. You're being gross."
"That doesn't matter," Mika waved it off. "There's already animals doing it. You'd fit right in."
"Stop it."
"Did you make out?" She asked with a wicked grin. "Two boys making out at a zoo would be something to witness."
"No, we didn't make out," Kai shook his head.
"Damn," Mika frowned. "Why not?"
"Mika," Kai grumbled. "Stop it."
"He is pretty hot," Mika nodded. "Like, super hot. I'd hit it."
"I can't believe you're talking about him like he's not here," Kai sighed.
"Watch it," Mika began. "Or I'll show him pictures of you as a kid. You know, the really weird nerdy ones."
"Mika," Kai frowned. "You wouldn't."
"Sorry," she grinned.
"She's nuts," Kai whispered to Liam.
"She's funny," Liam laughed. "I'm fine with this."
"I'm glad someone thinks so," Kai mumbled.
"Don't act like that," Mika stated. "I'm a delight. The most delightful of all delights."
"That's the biggest lie I've ever heard," Kai rolled his eyes.
"Don't act like you're so special," Mika responded. "You haven't even gotten it after 28 years on this planet."
Liam shook his head and laughed. He loved the interactions between the two siblings. He wondered if they had always acted like that with each other. He was sure they had. It was so easy to embarrass Kai. She seemed to be the type to take full advantage of that fact.
He couldn't wait to get to see more interactions between them and those embarrassing childhood pictures.
