What's fate? What's destiny? Do those things really exist? I always ask myself that question. Do we really have a match made in heaven or does God just leave it for us to cater for? Do we really need to find that right person or can anyone be the right person if put under the needed amount of care?
Yeorin stood before his bathroom mirror, brushing his teeth as his mind wandered.
"What's fate? What's destiny? Do those things really exist?" he thought aloud.
He rinsed his mouth and began his morning routine, lost in reflection. "Hmm," he sighed, "you're talking to yourself again Mun Yeorin."
He continued with his hygiene, still lost in thought. It was a Saturday like another, or, so Yeorin thought. He laid his bedsheet and stacked his books in an artistic file on the hanging bookshelves in his room. Everything was in its place, his computer was on his reading table made of oak wood, and his window blinds danced in the gentle morning breeze.
The sound of his alarm pierced the air, and he sighed.
"What's the use of having an alarm if I'm always awake when it rings...this stupid insomnia never allows me to have a good rest, ah! Gosh." He lamented and continued with his cleaning.
He continued with his cleaning until his room transformed into a tidy oasis. His whole body was drenched in sweat from the tidying. His hair was hanging over his hazel brown eyes his face was moist with sweat, and his tank top was drenched likewise. "Yeah, I tried," he muttered to himself.
Right after cleaning up, he went into the bathroom for a thorough cleaning, applied his face wash, and exfoliated. As he washed his face, thoughts of his parents' estrangement weighed on him.
Having spent like five minutes doing that he turned on the shower and it began to wash all the stickiness from his body. The hot water pouring from the shower began to wash away every lingering fatigue from his earlier chores as he stood under the shower's silent warmth.
Dal Hae has tried to keep her distance from Tae Gwang but at the same time she unconsciously did the same to Yeorin.... 'how did it come to this?'
The shower's warmth enveloped him, washing away every residue of dirt.
His thoughts drifted to So Mi and his parents.
Time slipped away while he was lost in his thoughts. The pattering of water on the floor drummed into his subconsciousness and drew him back to the moment; He turned off the shower, dried off, and began his skincare routine.
Like every other person who wants to have a dashing look, he brought out his skincare products, comprising of a toner, sunscreen, moisturizer, and body lotion. Settling into bed, Yeorin sketched new shoe designs, trying to divert his attention from his clouded thoughts.
His only class for the day was to start at 10 - philosophy. Glancing at the clock, he groaned, "Jinja (are you kidding me)? It's just 7 o'clock, since! I feel like I've been awake for over 2 hours now."
His day stretched before him like an empty canvas.
Philosophy class at 10.
The usual routine.
Attend classes.
Lunch.
Library.
Back to his room.
His life was monotonous, predictable, and somewhat boring to the regular person. But when you find enough satisfaction in being alone, you'll understand the love of personal space.
Yeorin's gaze drifted out the window, the world outside seemed to pulse with life. Not that Yeorin didn't want to live like a normal transcending teenager, but circumstances change a person's overall perception and outlook on life. Yeorin became fond of being alone and it's now hard for him to find it unengaging.
He learned to play with himself as a kid, he learned to keep things within himself and solve them alone - having grown up like this, he became very close to a social misfit.
The realization of his conviction and perception of life made him even more introverted.
Yeorin was sitting in his bed while drawing, an hour had passed already (it'll surprise you how fast time moves when you draw actually). Tired and worn out from the early rise and fatigue from cleaning, he began to dose of slowly. He was about dosing off totally when his phone rang out, a call came in from his Father.
"Annyeong appa (good morning dad)" Yeorin said, his voice still lingering with sleepiness.
"Oh mihane, mihane (oh I'm sorry, I'm really sorry) did I wake you up?"
Yeorin shook his head slightly, "no, you didn't. What do you want though, I'm sure you didn't call just to hear my voice."
Tae Gwang sighed, his eyes filled with tears, 'I'm about to mess this up again.' he said looking at the contract Lee Ahn gave him the night before. "There's something I want you to go through and sign, that's only if you want to though."
The sleepiness in Yeorin began to fade off, he scoffed, "I know you appa, you've decided it already, so why ask for my consent again," he chuckled, "Just sign it."
Tae Gwang sighed heavily over the phone, "I'll send it to you through Yuna okay?" He said and ended the call.
"Ani, Aniyo (no, no), not Yuna, jebal (please)... Yeo, yeoboseyo! Appa (dad) are you there?" Yeorin said. He looked at his phone and he realized that his dad had ended the call almost 30 seconds ago.
It was ten minutes past his time for classes already when he heard a knock on the door - three short knocks, "That's Yuna."
Yuna had a signature knock with Yeorin, it was the regular way she knocked on every door but she revealed her own meaning of the three knocks to Yeorin. She said each knock signifies each syllable of her name - Kim-Yu-na.
Things have been awkward ever since Yuna confessed to Yeorin, they hardly met each other and started to cringe around each other, Yuna was trying her best to keep it professional and Yeorin wasn't comfortable with Yuna calling him sir, but at the same time, if she grew too fond with him he knew it'll hurt her more since her love for him is unrequited.
Yeorin sighed and took three deep breaths before the door. At the door, he thought of how to react to Yuna, "Should I just act lackadaisical? Nah that won't work, it'll seem too cocky. Should I act normal then? Argh... Shibal (dang it!)!" Yeorin muttered.
Finally, he opened the door and found Yuna in a quandary of her own, she was also whispering to herself. 'Gosh she's such a funny character,' Yeorin chuckled.
"Nuna (used to refer to an elder sister or someone older than you, but still in the same age grade.), what are you doing?" Yeorin said.
Yuna looked at Yeorin, embarrassment had overtaken her whole body, 'he caught me talking to myself, why am I so unlucky?' Yuna thought. She gave a weird smile and entered into Yeorin's room.
Yuna spread her hand wide open taking in a deep breath, "I always love entering your room, it always smells nice." She closed her eyes and took another deep breath.
Yeorin stood aloof, resting on the wall of his corridor, "Dad said you have something for me."
"Oh, yeah, yeah, that... um... Here it is," Yuna said handing a black file to Yeorin.
"Nuna, do you know what this is, he didn't have to make me sign it, I've left the running of the company to him, why does he still disturb me? Wae (why)?" He asked looking at Yuna.
"Don't look at me like that, he's your dad, not mine. Besides I don't think this has to do with the show launch. I don't know what it is though but in sure it's something else." Yuna assured, "So calm your nerves."
"If that's the case then it's irrelevant, what else could it be," Yeorin asked himself as he opened the document.
Upon seeing the document's content, Yeorin's eyes widened in surprise, 'Am I a joke to him? He wants me to sign a contracted relationship?'
Yuna noticed the change in Yeorin's countenance and took a step forward to take a peak at the document's content.
"Uh? A bonding contract between Party A and Party B - Mun Yeorin. A two-year contract wherein Party B would have to be in a relationship with Party A, breach of this contract would attract a fine of 30 million Won!" Yuna screamed, "Woah... This is crazy, after two years each Party can decide whether or not to go on with the relationship if they wish. Signed..."
Yuna's eyebrow furrowed in frustration, "How could your dad do this to you, did you say you wanted anyone? Why is he forcing you into a relationship with someone you don't even know, the name of Party A isn't even stated and he wants you to sign it."
She looked at Yeorin in anticipation of a reply but nothing came, all Yeorin did was smile.
As Yuna continued to read the clauses and make comments on how nonsensical the contract was, "This doesn't even look like a real contract, who would put a release clause at 30 million Won, who is her daughter, is she the president's wife or something?" Yuna continued to spark.
Yeorin kept quiet, his mind processing what could have prompted his father to make such a rash decision. 'we're not lacking funds, our investors are all happy with the terms of the agreement, the plan for the shoe launch is going smoothly, the company is having more revenue... Wae, wae (why, just why), why would he do this?' Yeorin thought clenching his jaw.
Yeorin's phone rang out, "Speak of the devil and he would call you."
Tae Gwang called Yeorin, ready to take any offensive words Yeorin might say, but Yeorin did the exact opposite of what his father expected from him. Instead of venting his anger immediately, he smiled from ear to ear.
"...could you give me the number of the parent of Party A?" Yeorin requested.
"You want her number? Well... Okay, I'll send it to you." Tae Gwang replied.
"Mmm (okay), thanks, Dad."
Tae Gwang was taken aback, he expected to be lashed by Yeorin for his misconduct but he was called "dad" for the first time in the year. "Is he happy about it? Has he been waiting for an opportunity like this one?" Tae Gwang smiled at himself, spinning in his office chair.
Yeorin's phone dinged, signifying a message being delivered. He smirked and called the number.
"Yeoboseyo, naneun Mun Yeorin (hello, my name is Mun Yeorin), I got your number from Mr Mun Tae Gwang.
"Oh Yeorin, nice finally speaking to you, Tae Gwang told me a lot about you already, how are you?"
"I'm doing fine Ajumma (madame), please can we meet up? I want to discuss something with you." Yeorin answered curtly.
"Oh no problem my dear, I have a lot of time, when do you want to meet up?" She asked
"Would right now would be fine," Yeorin suggested.
"Ne (yes), no problem, I'll send you the address to come to."
"Alright, thank you Ma," Yeorin said and hung up the phone.
Yuna was just staring at Yeorin in awe, 'I don't understand if he's annoyed or happy, he's such a nut case.'
Another text message was delivered to Yeorin's phone. It was from Lee Ahn, it had the details of where their meeting would be held. Yeorin smirked at his phone and tossed it on the bed. He turned and went into his wardrobe, he picked out a decent dress, a grey jacket, a black turtle neck shirt, and a black loose pants with a black boot.
He clenched his jaw tightly revealing his defined jawline even more, his gaze was fierce like a warrior with a killer instinct, and his hazel eyes were covered with black lensed glasses.
Even through the lens of his glasses, you could still feel the heat from his glare, he was smiling but infuriating. His aura changed and became so fitting into his choice of clothing, Instead of being regarded as a first-year college student, he looked more like a business tycoon on his way to making a business deal with a very hard-to-convince person.
He picked up his phone and let his demeanor extrude, he looked at Yuna and smiled, "I'm heading somewhere, I'll be back soon." He said, his voice was laced with tension.
