Who could she be?" Ri Ta whispered behind Su Ki's right ear. Shocked, Su Ki's body quivered as Ri Ta's voice sent shivers down his spine.
"Gosh, Ri Ta!" She screamed, "What are you doing here?" Su Ki said in shock, his voice laced with slight irritation.
Ri Ta held her silence, she was as quiet as night time, she was trying to understand what Yuna and Yeorin were all about, "they look close and are quite friendly with each other. He's never like that with me," she thought to herself and sighed.
Su Ki snapped his fingers bring Ri Ta out of whatever trance she was, "are you into the guy?" He asked curtly.
Ri Ta smirked, looking at Su Ki with distrust, "and what if I am? What would that change?"
Su Ki took a very deep sigh, "both Bora and Ri Ta are into this Yeorin guy, where did he come from all of a sudden?" He looked around the area and nothing untoward happened, "so you like some unknown kid?" He asked.
Ri Ta snickered, "apparently, the known kid I liked was a total piece of shit," she said looking at Su Ki with a pinch of annoyance, "now come drive me home," she ordered shutting Su Ki's car door violently. Su Ki was dumbfounded, "did she just call me a piece of shit? Wow," he smiled and entered the car. "Take us to Ri Ta's place."
"Ye (yes), sir Su Ki," his driver, Bom, said and drove off
The sun shone brightly, casting a warm glow over the city. The smell of lilies filled the air, and cherry blossoms fluttered down like confetti. It was a beautiful day, the kind that made you want to smile.
Su Ki's phone rang, piercing the peaceful atmosphere. He grumbled, and used his duvet to cover his head until the phone rang out. He smiled and tried to get more sleep.
His phone ran out again, he picked up the phone, groggily answered, "What?"
"Su Ki, it's Lawyer Kim. I have some information about Yeorin," the voice on the other end said.
Su Ki sat up, his eyes still half-closed. "What about him?"
"Well, Yeorin is a scholarship student from New York. He came to Jukheon with a full ride from B&S. He's been keeping a low profile, but from what I gather, he's a bright kid. Quiet, but confident," Lawyer Kim said.
Su Ki's eyes narrowed. "What else?"
"Not much, Su Ki. He lives in Bin Oh building on campus, his roommate, Patrick Ki is yet to arrive on campus, he deferred his admission till winter entry. No known associates, no trouble with the law. He's a ghost, Su Ki."
Su Ki's grip on the phone tightened. "Find out more. I want to know everything."
"Already on it, Su Ki. But be warned, this kid is slippery. He's got secrets, and he's not giving them up easily."
Su Ki's eyes flashed with determination. "I'll get to the bottom of it. Keep digging."
As Su Ki hung up, he couldn't shake off the feeling that Yeorin was hiding something big. He decided to keep a close eye on him, see if he could uncover any clues. He got up from bed and prepared himself ready for class.
Su Ki, just about to make a right turn towards the western part of the campus, finds Yeorin sitting idly, all alone on a bench. As he approached the bench where Yeorin was sitting, his eyes fixed on him. "Yeorin," he said, his voice firm and commanding.
Yeorin looked up, a hint of surprise on his face. "It's that guy from last time, how did he know my name?" Yeorin wondered. "Annyeong" Yeorin replied, his tone neutral.
Su Ki's gaze narrowed. "What are you doing here?" he demanded, his boss aura on full display.
"Does he think he's talking o a baby?" Yeorin shrugged. "Just taking a break. Enjoying the view."
Su Ki's eyes scanned Yeorin's face, his expression skeptical. "You're not from around here, are you?" he said, his tone accusatory.
Yeorin raised an eyebrow. "No, I'm not. But I'm starting to think that's a problem for you."
Su Ki's gaze intensified. "What brings you to Jukheon?"
Yeorin leaned back in his seat, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Maybe I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about."
Su Ki's eyes narrowed. "And what do you think?"
Yeorin shrugged. "Well...it's okay, I guess. A bit too much drama for my taste though"
Su Ki's expression turned cold. "Drama? You think we're dramatic?" Ha ha ha, he laughed.
Yeorin leaned forward, his eyes locked on Su Ki's. "Yeah, I do. You're all so caught up in your own little world. It's like you're living in a bubble."
Su Ki's gaze flashed with anger. "How dare you," he hissed.
Yeorin stood up, his eyes never leaving Su Ki's face. "I dare because it's true," he said, his voice firm. "You're all so fake, so caught up in your own little games. It's like you're playing a never-ending role."
Su Ki's face twisted in anger. "You should watch your mouth kid, you know nothing about us," he spat.
Yeorin smiled. "Oh, but I do. I know all about your little cliques and your fake friendships. I know how you all pretend to be perfect, but really, you're just a bunch of hypocrites."
Su Ki's face twisted in rage. "How dare you," he hissed. "You're just a nobody, a pathetic little outsider, a low life, a loser who doesn't know anything."
Yeorin laughed. "That's where you're wrong, Su Ki. I know more about you than you think. And I'm not afraid of you."
Su Ki's eyes narrowed. "You should be," he growled. "I can make your life here very difficult."
Yeorin shrugged. "I'm not afraid of you, Su Ki. And I'm not going to back down. I'm going to keep speaking my mind, no matter how much you try to intimidate me."
Su Ki's face turned red with rage. "You're going to regret this," he spat. "You're going to regret ever crossing me."
Yeorin smiled. "I'm not afraid of your threats," he said and smiled, "just like I said you're all playing a role, I guess I'm joining the game too, but apparently, I'm your nemesis."
Su Ki's eyes flashed with anger, and for a moment, it seemed like he was going to lunge at Yeorin. But then, he seemed to regain control of himself, and a cold, calculating smile spread across his face.
"Fine," he said. "If that's how you want to play it, then let's play. But you're going to regret ever crossing me, Mun Yeorin. I promise you that."
And with that, Su Ki turned and walked away, leaving Yeorin to wonder what he had just gotten himself into, "he knows my full name? How?"
Ri Ta stood afar and watched as Yeorin and Su Ki exchange heated words. She raised an eyebrow, Intrigued by their animosity, towards each other. "they don't know each other too well yet, and they're already like this?" She sighed, "wow." As Yeorin walked away, she decided to approach him.
Ri Ta called out to Yeorin as he walked away from Su Ki. "Yeorin, wait up!"
Yeorin paused his steps, "Ugh, not her again. Can't she see I'm busy trying to avoid any form of drama?" He muttered to himself. But he turned to face her anyway, his expression neutral. "What is it, Ri Ta?"
Ri Ta jogged up to him, a bright smile on her face. "I couldn't help but notice the tension between you and Su Ki. What's going on?"
Yeorin sighed inwardly. Why did she always have to poke her nose into his business? "Just Su Ki being Su Ki. He thinks he's superior to everyone else."
Ri Ta's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Well, he's certainly confident. But I'm more interested in you, Yeorin. How are you doing?" She said walking along side Yeorin.
Yeorin raised an eyebrow. "I'm fine, Ri Ta. Why do you ask?"
Ri Ta's grin grew wider. "Oh, I just want to make sure you're doing okay. You know, after what happened earlier."
"What is she getting at? Does she think I'm still bothered by Su Ki's insults?" He said to himself slightly. He turned his gaze and looked at Ri Ta, "Ri Ta, I'm fine," Yeorin repeated. "Really."
Ri Ta nodded, her eyes still sparkling with curiosity. "Okay, Yeorin. I'm glad to hear that."
"Finally, she's going to leave me alone." Yeorin mouthed. But then Ri Ta spoke up again. "Hey, Yeorin? Can I talk to you about something?"
Yeorin's eyes hit every corner, "What now?" He thought to himself. He adjusted himself, "Sure, Ri Ta. What is it?" Yeorin asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
Ri Ta hesitated, her grin faltering for a moment. "I just wanted to ask you... About us."
Yeorin paused again, "What does she mean 'about us'?" Yeorin became dumbfounded. Yeorin's confusion was evident on his face. "About us? What do you mean?"
Ri Ta's grin returned, and she took a step closer to Yeorin. "You know exactly what I mean, Yeorin. I'm talking about our relationship."
"Relationship? What is she talking about? We don't have a relationship!" She took off his glasses, "Ri Ta, I don't know what you're talking about," Yeorin said bluntly, trying to shut down the conversation.
But Ri Ta just laughed. "Oh, Yeorin. Don't play dumb. I know you feel it too."
"Ri Ta, I don't know what you're talking about," Yeorin repeated, getting frustrated.
Ri Ta's grin grew wider. "Fine, Yeorin. If you want to play it that way, then let's just say... I'm interested in you. Romantically.
Yeorin's expression remained unchanged as Ri Ta confessed her feelings. He didn't bat an eye, didn't flinch, and didn't even blink. He just stared at her with his usual cold demeanor.
"Ri Ta, I don't know what you're talking about," Yeorin said flatly, his voice devoid of emotion.
Ri Ta's face fell, but she quickly recovered. "You're just playing dumb, Yeorin. I know you feel it too."
Yeorin shrugged. "Believe whatever you want to." With that, Yeorin turned and walked away, leaving Ri Ta standing alone under the soft touch of sunlight.
Ri Ta was battered and heartbroken, Yeorin's the first person to reject her. She was so used to rejecting people that she didn't know how much it hurt, but now she felt it. Ri Ta's eyes narrowed and swole with tears as she watched Yeorin disappear into the crowd. She took in a deep breath and smiled, "it's alright, everyone has a weak point, I'm sure I'd find his." She pulled out her phone and dialed a number, "he is mine, she reassured herself."
The caller picked the phone, Ri Ta strode in her signature dress, miniskirt and chin high boots, "Lawyer Hyeong, I need you to dig up something for me...Yes it's about a person....No, no no, don't paint him black.....yes, just his particulars, his family, what he does, where he goes, what he likes etcetera..exactly, I want to know everything about him."
Lawyer Hyeong's voice was hesitant on the other end of the line. "Ri Ta, are you sure that's necessary?"
Ri Ta's voice was cold and detached. "Just do it."
As Ri Ta waited for Lawyer Hyeong to respond, a sly smile spread across her face. She was going to find out everything about Yeorin, and use it to her advantage.
Meanwhile, Yeorin walked away, oblivious to the storm brewing behind him. He was still under the radar, one from an obsessed love interest and the other an obsessed enemy.
