Chapter 28 - The Overlord of Sakura Nation

In the southern part of the Serene Forest, within a small territory,

Megan Takeshi, who had transmigrated into a goblin Overlord, felt that today was extraordinarily unlucky. During the Crimson Tide, the red mist had infiltrated and caused the death of all his minions.

What made it even more unfortunate was that he was not far from Charles's Zerg territory. In fact, the small node that Charles was blocking also enshrouded his area.

As is well-known, the will of the Continent of Overlord highly rewards brave Overlords. For instance, Overlord 438 had already acquired three second-tier elite combat units after resisting a part of the node.

Naturally, Megan Takeshi felt indignant and resentful.

"Damn it! Damn you, Number One! Just because you're a bit stronger, you dare to steal the prey of the great Megan Takeshi!" he muttered incessantly, completely forgetting that if Charles hadn't blocked that node, he would have been killed by his own rebelling minions.

It was merely jealousy of Charles's power.

But what good is such jealousy when he himself is so weak?

Roar!

A sharp roar echoed from afar as a two-tailed tiger, eyes filled with bloodlust, charged at Megan Takeshi. Just as it seemed he would be torn apart, a stream of green venom corroded the tiger's back.

Roar! Roar! Roar!

The excruciating corrosive toxin caused the tiger immense pain, making it forget about the weak goblin in front of it.

The venom had come from a newly hatched second-tier Toxic Baneling. Seeing the tiger's high resistance to poison, the Baneling hesitated for a moment. Just as it was about to launch another attack to finish off the tiger, it realized the beast had already been killed by a slash to its throat.

[Congratulations, Overlord, on obtaining a Silver Chest. Would you like to open it?]

Megan Takeshi shakily released his iron-cutting dagger, seemingly unable to believe that he had just slain a dark creature possessing a Silver Chest.

Just as he was about to open the treasure chest, he noticed that terrifying green Zerg creature.

Its menacing appearance made Megan Takeshi instinctively drop to his knees and beg for mercy, "Please spare me, mighty Zerg! I didn't mean to steal your prey! Have mercy, great Zerg ..."

The Toxic Baneling didn't understand his words, but being an advanced Zerg personally crafted by Empress Catherine, it had a certain level of intelligence.

For instance, although this creature had taken its prey, it couldn't help but notice:

Why does this creature's biological structure resemble that of their advanced Zerg?

No, no, it's just that the body structure is somewhat similar. In no way does its height or appearance compare to the elegance and beauty of the Zerg.

Having been hatched and personally guided by Catherine, the Baneling had never encountered such a humanoid creature before and was momentarily unsure of what to do.

Even in its simplicity, it retained a basic sense of aesthetics.

This guy is hideous!

Its brain, akin to that of a cockroach, processed thoughts rapidly, and as it pondered, it noticed the creature had fainted. Could there be other dangers nearby?

After a thorough observation, the Toxic Baneling decided to seek Empress Catherine alone, to have her convey the will of the Overlord.

...

"Master, I just discovered something interesting." Catherine communicated across the network, her voice filled with amusement as she spoke from her laboratory.

Noticing the peculiar tone, Charles asked, "What is it?"

Could there be another entity invading the Zerg territory?

Given Catherine's capabilities, it shouldn't be a problem. Moreover, her tone suggested that the situation was under control and quite amusing.

"Haha, Master, guess what? Remember when we jointly developed a high-intelligence Zerg group to serve as future Zerg leaders?"

"That young Toxic Baneling found a hideous humanoid Overlord. Would you like to take a look?"

Catherine's tone suggested that she was in an exceptionally good mood.

If the Zerg hierarchy were to be considered, the few sub-leaders created alongside the master were undoubtedly the ones Catherine cherished the most.

After all, they were the first combat units jointly created by herself and the master.

Among them, the simple-minded Toxic Baneling was her favorite, hence the lightheartedness in her voice.

Charles was momentarily taken aback by her words, then responded with a mix of amusement and exasperation, "A humanoid Overlord—did that little fool not think to inform me directly?"

Even though Little Green knew how to use the information network to convey messages, it always seemed to have a sense of fear, akin to a child afraid of being scolded by their father, whenever communicating with him.

Thus, Little Green always chose to notify Catherine first, who would then relay the message to him.

Feeling somewhat slighted, Catherine retorted with a hint of exasperation, "Master, considering Little Green's single-celled brain, it's competent enough to kill, but asking it to do anything else is really pushing it. Oh, is my intelligence starting to intimidate you?"

Charles let out a cold chuckle, "Go ahead and fit yourself with your favorite toy, both front and back, and wait for me to come back and deal with you, you foolish slave!"

"And don't forget—head straight to the training room and kneel!"

Ridiculous! How dare this foolish slave mock him? She clearly needed a lesson to remind her of her place.

Sensing the gravity of his words, Catherine's tone shifted to one of nervousness, "Master, perhaps we can skip the training room? Don't you think there's a peculiar thrill in having your way with me right here in the lab?"

The training room... Ever since Charles had given her a particularly intense session with the triangle horse there, she had developed a certain fear of it. That contraption was truly torturous.

Damn it, where does Master get all those potent aphrodisiacs?

Charles, however, was unyielding and ordered her to bind herself properly on the bed in the training room.

As for the humanoid Overlord, that was something he intended to investigate immediately.

He glanced down at the Medusa beneath him, her eyes rolling back in ecstasy.

After a few final thrusts, he released into her mouth. With a composed expression, he then said, "Come on, my dear~ Let's go meet this unfamiliar Overlord together."

Medusa, still dazed and on her knees, took a moment to recover. After swallowing his seed, she followed her master back.

As for the Zerg's advancement, there isn't much to say. They were primarily there to serve as high-level combat forces to maintain dominance. At least for the next two days, it seemed unlikely they would need to demonstrate their full strength.

No other reason but the sheer power of the Zerg's reproductive and evolutionary capabilities. Even with just the supply of Zerg warriors from the armory, they could continue fighting while simultaneously increasing their numbers.

...

In the laboratory, the three individuals observed the hideous dwarf before them with thoughtful expressions, then simultaneously glanced at Little Green.

Wait a minute... isn't this just a goblin? So why is Little Green acting so serious about it?

Charles felt a wave of irritation wash over him, he had hoped for something akin to an elf.

Of course, this was just a fleeting thought. More than anything, he was annoyed that Catherine had interrupted his moment of intimacy with Medusa.

"Catherine, tonight you will stay with me in the training room alone. No pleading to Medusa!" Charles declared, his face darkening as he shifted the blame for Little Green's actions onto Catherine, intending to give her a severe punishment.

Catherine could only manage a bitter smile in response, not daring to refuse.

She understood the marks at the corners of Medusa's mouth all too well. This was likely just another one of the master's punishment games.

Looks like I'm in for it...

Finally, she redirected her anger at the grotesque, lecherous dwarf before them. "Master, since this guy is an Overlord, why don't we take his Overlord's Heart and leave him to fend for himself?"

An Overlord without its Overlord's Heart is essentially a vagabond, and not just any vagabond, but one who has lost half of its power due to the theft. Such Overlords rarely survive long outside their territories.

Charles chuckled sardonically, thinking, "Can't handle the master, so now you're taking it out on a goblin dwarf?"

What a childish, foolish slave.

However, he didn't entirely dismiss the idea. In truth, as someone reborn from the future, Charles was well aware that the Continent of Overlord was a brutal place, not just due to the monsters but also because of the humans.

After enduring the initial dark period, the human race seemed to fracture. Many Overlords gradually assimilated with the races they had been reincarnated into, believing themselves to represent the future of that race.

The most hateful thing is that those inhuman scoundrels often use the guise of familial or friendly relationships to deceive others, ultimately resorting to dirty tactics to seize their Overlord's Heart!
