Chapter 51 - Day 51: Enter the Cute Dragon

Day 51:

9:00 AM – Woke up to a high-pitched squeaking noise outside my window. At first, I thought it was Grog practicing his yodeling again, but then I remembered Grog doesn't yodel… at least not voluntarily. Curious, I looked outside and saw a small, brightly colored dragon attempting to catch butterflies.

Interlude – Morning Mystery:

Seraphina: "Max, what's making that adorable noise?" Vortax: "Either we have a new pet, or Grog's trying out a new hobby."

10:00 AM – Gathered everyone in the courtyard to meet our new visitor. The dragon, no larger than a sheepdog, was covered in iridescent scales that shimmered in the sunlight. It had the biggest, most expressive eyes I'd ever seen on a dragon. The minions were immediately smitten.

11:00 AM – Seraphina suggested we name the dragon. After a spirited debate, we settled on "Spark," due to its glittering appearance. Spark seemed pleased with the name, nuzzling against Seraphina's leg and letting out a happy squeak.

Interlude – Naming the Dragon:

Minion: "How about 'Scorch'?" Vortax: "Too fierce." Grog: "Fluffy?" Vortax: "Too cute." Seraphina: "Spark?" Vortax: "Perfect."

12:00 PM – Spark made itself at home, exploring every nook and cranny of the castle. Its curiosity led to some amusing mishaps: knocking over a suit of armor, tangling itself in curtains, and getting stuck in a too-small cauldron.

1:00 PM – Decided to introduce Spark to the larger dragons. The meeting went surprisingly well; the big dragons seemed to regard Spark with a kind of amused tolerance, while Spark flitted around them like an overexcited puppy.

Interlude – Dragon Diplomacy:

Seraphina: "Do you think Spark will fit in with the others?" Vortax: "As long as it doesn't try to play fetch with their tails, we should be fine."

2:00 PM – Took Spark on a tour of the castle grounds. The little dragon was particularly fascinated by the garden, trying to eat various flowers and plants. Spark's antics provided endless entertainment for the minions, who followed us around, laughing at its playful behavior.

3:00 PM – Spark discovered the library and, much to my horror, began chewing on ancient scrolls. I quickly redirected its attention with a shiny, enchanted mirror, which captivated Spark for a good hour.

Interlude – Library Lament:

Vortax: "No, Spark, ancient scrolls are not snacks!" Seraphina: "Maybe we should get it some dragon-safe toys."

4:00 PM – Decided to hold a "Welcome to the Castle" party for Spark. The minions decorated the courtyard with colorful banners and balloons. We prepared a feast, including a special dragon-friendly cake made of gemstones and enchanted honey.

6:00 PM – The party was a hit. Spark entertained everyone by performing little tricks, like blowing tiny smoke rings and doing somersaults in the air. The minions took turns feeding it treats and petting its smooth scales.

Interlude – Party Prep:

Minion: "Do dragons like balloons?" Vortax: "Only one way to find out."

8:00 PM – As the sun set, we gathered around a bonfire, sharing stories and enjoying the warmth. Spark curled up next to Seraphina, who gently stroked its head. It was a perfect end to a delightful day, filled with laughter and camaraderie.

10:00 PM – Tucked Spark into a cozy corner of the castle, complete with a nest of soft blankets and a few shiny trinkets. Seraphina and I watched as the little dragon drifted off to sleep, its tiny snores filling the room.
