Chapter 32 - Bloodline

As Harry looked at Weltist he continued to have all sorts of thoughts in his head.

While he wanted to be happy that his comrade had come back from death, he still couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong though he couldn't quite pinpoint the feeling.

"Hey, captain as you can see I'm back," Weltist said as he waved his hand as if meaning to say, here I am. Back alive and well.

"Good, we were all saddened by what happened to you and the group just wouldn't be the same without you," Harry said with a slight smile on his face trying to bury the feelings in his head.

'I must just be feeling weird from the forest and general atmosphere around here' Harry thought as he asked Weltist.

"What happened in the mist? We all saw you disappear and then the mist retreated into the tree line quickly."

"Well it was quite weird for me too captain, it felt like I was standing in one place and then suddenly I felt a force push me forward as if calling me, and I couldn't resist it at all so I just simply walked in its direction. Thankfully after a while the mist disappeared and I was back where the camp had been, i guessed that you must have decided to evacuate as soon as possible so I just followed the road to catch up with you."

Weltist said calmly as he recounted what had happened to him.

"I see, well then I'll say again, it's good to have you back alive and well, your position will be where Leroy is right now. Go call him to come meet me and we will start trekking through the forest again." Harry said as he motioned with his hand that Weltist leave and go to his position now.

Weltist nodded as he turned around and started walking back towards Leroy.

Everyone was nodding as he passed, clearly happy to have their companion back once again.

Weltist nodded at them as well, his smile still never leaving his face since he had appeared from the bushes.

"Leroy kid, the Captain is calling for you, I'll be taking your position," Weltist said as he stared at Leroy.

Leroy just nodded at the man and started walking towards Harry.

Weltist stood there for a moment and stared at Leroy's back.

Finally, a slight emotion appeared in his calm eyes but it was gone before it could even be determined what it was.

"Captain, I heard you called me?" Leroy asked Harry.

"Now that Weltist is back, you can simply go sit with the driver until something happens," Harry said to Leroy, his eyes serious.

"Why not let me walk together with you? Wouldn't it be better for the security of the group? You know as well that with mana I'm already stronger than most of the members" Leroy asked, confusion clouding his face.

"It's because of Weltist, I can't seem to pinpoint what but my intuition is telling me that something is wrong and it has saved me countless times, if something does happen then I need at least one fully rested soldier."

Harry said in an almost whisper as he furrowed his brows while looking at Weltist from afar.

The man seemed to notice his gaze as he turned around and then smiled in Harry's direction.

A shudder went through Harry's and Leroy's bodies at the same time.

"Somethings wrong, most definitely, i just don't know what yet," Harry whispered to Leroy.

"I noticed it as well and warned the others, besides one who seemed to have been close with Weltist, everyone else took the warning seriously. They have been ordered to not tell Weltist anything or confront him" Leroy whispered back to Harry, his expression equally serious.

"Is that why you questioned my decision to make you sit with the rider? You already noticed something wrong?" Harry asked a little startled.

"Yeah, I wouldn't have noticed it if I had not unlocked my mana but ever since I did, I feel like I could notice even the smallest details, not just sight-wise wise but I could notice even the small fluctuations of people's emotions and their demeanor. It's as if nothing can escape my sight anymore" Leroy told Harry.

"I see, that's definitely not normal at all, someone at your level of mana control should not have the capabilities to do something like that. It could be a bloodline." Harry whispered as he turned to stare at the forest in front of the carriage.

"Bloodline?" Leroy asked confused.

"They are special abilities but we don't have the time to verify it and neither do we have the comfort to and lastly it won't do you much good even if you know about it right now," Harry said as he then turned to once more face Leroy.

"Now then, go sit with the driver. We will begin the journey once more, we can't stay here any longer than we have to." Harry said as he pointed towards the driver.

Leroy just nodded as he started walking towards the carriage.

Harry then opened his mouth and loudly proclaimed that they would be starting to walk once more.

The others all nodded and the Carriage finally started moving once more through the forest.

Leroy was seated next to the driver of the Carriage.

The driver was an old man and wrinkles had already filled his face and his hair had almost entirely grayed out.

Sitting on the carriage where the driver sat was certainly not comfortable, the path through the forest was filled with rocks and potholes could be seen here and there, causing the entire ride to be annoying at best and completely unbearable at worst.

'I wonder if it's better in the cabin' Leroy thought and then turned to look behind him.

He couldn't see anything inside as there weren't any windows on this side of the carriage which Leroy thought was a dumb decision.

'How would they tell the driver for an emergency stop? open the side door and scream? Dumb design.'

Leroy's thoughts then started heading in another direction.

'Harry said that I could have a bloodline of some sort. What are bloodlines in the first place though? Information is key and I really don't have much of it, i need to expand my reading vocabulary as fast as possible so that I can understand more complex books otherwise I'd be wasting a very valuable source of information.' Leroy thought as he nodded to himself.

The carriage continued to trek through the forest until it became late at night.

The entire group besides Leroy was completely exhausted and Harry couldn't risk continuing any longer in current conditions so he had no choice but to tell the others to stop and set up camp for the night.
