Chapter 3 - The Dirty Fight

At that exact moment, Leroy couldn't pinpoint the feeling.

It felt like fear, but it was overwhelming and so intense that he didn't know what to do.

It was as if a predator beast was looking at him in the eye, and its only intention was to rip him apart piece by piece.

The man who came onto the stage was ripped, his entire body covered in scars of different shapes and sizes; some looked like knife wounds, while some looked as if a bear had clawed his body.

The ring was filled with mud and blood, and if you looked around close enough, you could also spot pieces of flesh that had been torn off, as well as teeth that had fallen off.

The man looked around outside the ring. His mere gaze froze the audience for a split second, and then the next second, the entire building shook from the crazy screams.

"SCARS! SCARS! SCARS!"

Leroy turned his head a bit to hear what the other people were saying.

This guy, scars, was the best.

He was the ring's greatest fighter, not the slum's.

Scars wasn't a fighter for money or for gaining his freedom; no, he was a complete psychopath who enjoyed ripping others apart with his bare hands.

On the other side of the ring came a man who looked more like a bear than a human.

His colossal body towered over Scars as he looked down at him.

"POP!! POP!! POP!!"

"I BET ON YOU, SO YOU BETTER WIN THIS POP!!"

The crowd screamed

Pop was confident in his body; he thought he could easily win this fight, depending on his size.

Another person climbed inside the ring but stayed in the corner.

"Tonight we have a special show, just for our guests!!!"

He screamed as the crowd was silenced, all of them listening to him.

"SCARS versus Pop, the champion versus the Challenger, who will win this extreme bout of strength"

The crowd once again erupted into screams, screaming the name of the fighter they had bet on.

"Without any wait, let's get the show started"

Said the announcer as he hopped off the ring.

As soon as the fight started, Pop rushed in head first, trying to grapple Scars and bring him down.

As he approached, Pop thought that he finally had him and already had a massive grin on his face.

It looked disgusting, thought Leroy.

At the last second, Scars smiled. It wasn't a nice smile. His smile was more deranged than anything Leroy had seen in his life, even more so than Ivar's, which was baffling for Leroy.

In a show of speed, Scars, with footwork that looked impossible to decipher to the onlookers, outmaneuvered Pop and got behind him.

This scene is repeated multiple times, again and again and again...

Pop was already sweating heavily. His eyes were trembling.

"Are you already done?" said Scars

"I'm not done, you bastard; I'll show you," yelled Pop, his entire face reddened by the anger.

"Another disappointment"

Finally, Scars rushed in, and he got close. Pop sent a swing towards him, and he ducked and got as close as possible.

Rotating his Waist and clenching his fist as much as he could, Scars unleashed a tremendous punch.

The Bear-like Pop was knocked off his feet, falling heavily onto the ground.

Knocked out, no Pop was dead.

Leroy's eyes shook

'That power isn't human. How can a man kill someone with a single punch.'

Scars didn't stop, though.

No, he was still punching Pop.

Even though he was dead, scars didn't stop until the entire ring and his body were dyed red.

Leroy decided that he didn't want to watch anymore and tried to run to the exit as fast as possible.

The entire building was filled with people screaming and pushing each other as if they had gone insane.

His heart was beating so hard that Leroy thought it would jump out of his chest.

His palms were sweaty, and his knees barely held his body.

Finally getting past the screaming crowd, Leroy went towards the door and opened it.

Going out into the street again, Leroy was sweating.

It hadn't been even half an hour, but his expression had changed.

'Guess it was to be expected, huh, going into places like that. Just what was I thinking.'

After calming down for a few minutes, Leroy decided to head towards the outer edges of the slums, as he always did when he needed money.

'Last night, I didn't give Ivar the 7 copper, knowing that he would just take it and ask for another 10 today, and now I just need to get 3 more, thankfully.'

Leroy shuddered, just thinking about last night's events.

After a few minutes of walking, he arrived once again at the bustling street from yesterday.

As it was the later hours of afternoon, everyone were coming back work, so many more carriages and people were running about to do their daily work.

Leroy looked around, trying to find the easiest prey he could rob.

On the left side of the street, an old gentleman in an old suit was going further up the road towards the outskirts of the City and outside the slums.

The City was called Vigonna, the most prominent human City on the continent.

It was divided into 4 Districts, those being the Slums, which were the most dangerous as well as disgusting part of the City. Most of the garbage was also taken here from all the other Districts of the City. The slums were the northern part; after that was the Commoner District, which was much cleaner than the slums but was still an area filled with poverty everywhere you looked, though no one here seemed to die of starvation, from what Leroy had heard.

Further inside was the Inner Borough of Vigonna, where most people had pleasant lives and never thought about missing food or drink. They were what most would call the middle class of society.

The last District was called the Imperial Precinct.

Not much was known about the Imperial Precinct besides that the Emperor lived there as entry was strictly regulated.

Leroy continued looking at the old man, who was getting farther away, but in the end, he decided that it wasn't worth it.

Messing with people outside the slums had far higher consequences than one would think.

Besides the Slums, every other area had its guards and knights, which would protect the citizens of the City.

Of course, the slum people were hardly recognized as part of the City and didn't receive such protection.

In fact, Leroy had never seen an actual knight in person and had only heard about their tales from word of mouth.

Turning to the other side, Leroy spotted a drunkard walking down the street. He seemed to have come out of the redlight District, which was on the right side of this road down an alley.

'Finally, something easy for once.'

Thought Leroy as his black eyes gleamed.

He started walking slowly behind him, hiding behind the people and looking like he was minding his own business.

Most people in the slums weren't good people, and if they found out Leroy stole from someone, they would just decide to steal from Leroy himself since he was a kid and thus an easy target.

Closing in on his target, Leroy walked beside the drunkard for a simple second, his hand flashing to his belt in a second, and then he turned around as if nothing had ever happened.

4 copper richer.
