Ash's pov ;
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as I walked into Elijah's office building. I hadn't been here in so long, and everything felt both familiar and foreign. Daniel, Elijah's long-time assistant, welcomed me with a warm smile.
"Welcome back, Ash," he greeted. "It's good to see you."
"Thanks, Daniel. From now on, you don't have to worry about Elijah," I let out with a funny smile.
Daniel chuckled and nodded. "I'll leave him in your capable hands then."
I made my way to Elijah's office and knocked on the door. I heard his familiar voice, muffled but clear. "Come in."
Pushing the door open, I stepped inside and closed it behind me. Elijah was seated at his desk, his attention buried in a stack of papers. "Hey, busyhead," I called out with a playful lilt in my voice.
His head shot up at my voice, his eyes widening in surprise before breaking into a smile. "Ash! What are you doing here?"
