Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Someone Different

Kwan lay on his bed and sighed as he stared contentedly out the window.

She really didnt know me, he thought, suddenlý thinking of Celeste. Though it was late and though he felt tired, he didnt feel in the need to sleep yet.

He stared at the bright moon as the moonlight shone in his room through the window.

It looked as bright as it did on the rooftop earlier.

He smiled, remembring that he had been with Celeste then. For some reason, there was something about her that pleased him. Something he never found in other girls. He tilted his head.

I wonder what she's doing?

Celeste rolled over her bed, feeling exhausted. She and Kwan had both parted ways after they got out of the alley. When she got home after a long walk, it was almost midnight. Luckily, her parents weren't around yet. She knew her dad wouldve given her an earful if he were home before her.

She took a quick hot bath before she could finally relax on the matress. Her eylids felt heavy, but before she could doze off, she had caught sigt of her arm, the very one Kwan had written his number on. She jolted up, comoletely forgettin her sleepiness.

I've got some work to do, she thought. She got out her phone and began typing his number.

Kwan, she labeled.

"I didnt get your last name," she muttered regretfuly. Then she decide to find him on the internet.

She stood up and walked to her desk where her laptop was and turned it on.

"I'm sure I'll find something useful," she grinned as she waited foe her laptop to start. When it did, she went straight to the internet and typed the keywords: Kwan.

On the search suggestion, their was only one name that appeared: Kwan Davis.

She clicked the link to find out that it was he! There he was wearing a tuxedo looking glamorous as he stood beside the...mayor??!

Celeste's eyes bulged out as she read a long article about his personal life.

Kwan Davis

(Updated: Yesterday)

Is the mayor, Oliver Davis' and famous french model, Christina Davis' only child. He's famous for his looks that brings girls all over the city running after him.

Known as City High's Prince, he's currently the hottest celebrity in the city. At 15 (his age now) he has hundreds of offers within and outside the outskirts of town. But, unfortunately, he rejected them all, saying he wants to live his teenage life free with nothing but his academics to focus on.

He's presently City High's basketball captain and their carefully chosen representative in the upcoming badminton tournament this saturday for the school's intramurals. However, though he's a member and the captain of the basketball team, he was never before seen playing at a game or even at practice...

Celeste didnt want to finish reading it all. She already got what she wanted to know.

Kwan Davis.

"So you were some kind of celebrity," She muttered, leaning against her chair.

Kring! Kring!

Kwan took his phone from the night table to see who was calling. It was Christine. He answered her and pressed the phone against his ear.

"Are you home now?" She asked him.

"Yeah, I am. What's up?"

"I'm just checking...I mean, your paparrazi coul4d be after you even in the middle of the night. HAHAHA!"

Kwan rolled his eyes. "Very funny."

"By the way, did Celeste made it home safely?"

"I'm sure she's back by now. But ..."

"What is it?" Christine sounded worried.

"Your right about her. She's not like other girls."

"Oh?" She chuckled. "Thats interesting, especially when its coming from you."

Kwan smiled. "She didnt even know who I was...I thought she was pretending not to...but she wasnt. And..."

"And what?"

"I gave her my number." At the other end, he could hear her burst out into laughter.

He blushed. "Anyways, can you give me her number?"

That only made her worst. She was laughing so loud it was as if she was shouting. She slightly drew the phone away from his ear, wincing.

"Alright, I'll send it to you later," she said after recovering from laughing so hard. "I have to o now. Bye!"

"Bye!"

Kwan put the phone away as soon as she hung up.

Beep! His phone vibrated and he took it once again.

He grinned as he saw Christine send him Celeste's number.

He immediately saved it and decided to chat her.

Hey...

This was what he had started to type...

...

...but decided to erase it and call her instead.

He dialed her and waited for her to pick up.

"I really want you to meet her," Christine had told him a few days ago. "Then you'll see not all girls are the same. She's...different."

Kring! Kring!

Why wouldnt she pick up?

He canceled the call and put away his phone.

He checked the time—it was already past midnight.

No wonder. She must be asleep now.

"Who is she?" He had asked.

"Her name's Celeste Johnson. Your about the same age. Do you know her?"

He shooked his head. "Nope. Why should I? I already know to many girls. Its getting me sick. My friends are always introducing me to strange girls—"

"I didnt say she was strange," Christine cut him off sharply. "I said she was different."

"Different," he muttered quietly. Just then, there came a loud knock on his door.

"Come in," he said without even bothering to turn his head. The door flew open and there stood a tall old man wearing a long night gown bringing with him a tablet.

Kwan glanced at him before he spoke.

"You got what I asked you, Bard?"

The man nodded and approached him. Refering to his tablet, he read,

"Celeste Pearl Johnson is the daughter and only child of Chief Officer Michael Johnson and Attorney Bella Johnson. She's your age and goes to Gallant Academy. There's not much to know about her social status at school since she's quite low profiled. But, due to her father's life risking job, her life's somehow threatened by a lot of thugs. There's one certain gang that really has their eyes on her for some time now: The District 9. You've heard about them before, haven't you?"

Kwan nodded.

"Well, they've been after her for some time and—"

"Does her father know about this?"

"Yes, he is. He's well aware of all the threats and chasing his daughter is experiencing. But it seems like its something they couldnt prevent but only avoid." Bard stared carefully at him before continuing. "Is this why you wabted me to look into her?"

"What?" Kwan turned to him.

"Because she's like you?" Bard raised a curious eyebrow. "You don't usually have me barging into people's personal life like this. Did something happen?"

"Well..." Kwan looked away. "I met her at the book shop earlier and...on our way home two thugs were after us. At first, I thought they were after me, as usual. But..."

"She must be around here somewhere."

"...they were after her, not me."

Bard smiled thoughtfuly and paced across the room. "Michael's your father's right hand man. He's looked after you since you were young. He and the mayor were what I would call...close. But you know your father's aqcuired a lot of enemies in the past few years. And it's not only affecting him, but also the officer. So...it's just as tough for her." He eyed him thoughfully before he bowed in front of him. "I must go now. Get some sleep...It's already late." Saying so he made his way out of the door closing it behind him.

Kwan sighed tiredly and hid under his covers.

There's more to you than I thought, huh?
