The morning dawned with a soft glow filtering through the castle windows, but I barely noticed it.
My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, nerves, and meticulous planning. Today was the day. I was going to propose to Riley. After weeks of careful preparation, it was finally time.

Standing in front of the mirror in my chambers, I adjusted my jacket for the third time in as many minutes, scrutinising every detail of my appearance.
Was my hair too neat? Should I look more casual? Or maybe regal? What if Riley thought I looked like I was going to a diplomatic meeting instead of proposing?
"Pull yourself together," I muttered, staring at my reflection with narrowed eyes. But my reflection offered no solace, just an echo of the growing panic bubbling in my chest.
A knock at the door startled me out of my spiralling thoughts. It creaked open to reveal Leora, her expression a mix of amusement and concern.
