The ground trembled as monstrous forms surged from the chasm, their grotesque features illuminated by the dim, flickering light of the chamber. Shadows writhed around them, creating a terrifying spectacle.
Seraphine and I stood our ground, the tension thick in the air. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as the first monster lunged at us, its claws outstretched and its eyes burning with malevolence.
"Get ready!" Seraphine shouted again, her voice ringing out with determination.
I tightened my grip on my sword, bracing myself for the onslaught. The first creature, a twisted amalgamation of limbs and fangs, leapt toward Seraphine. She met it with a swift slash of her blade, severing one of its many arms. Black ichor spurted from the wound, and the beast let out a spine-chilling shriek.
