Seraphine and I set off on our patrol, the early morning sun casting a golden hue over the landscape. As we walked through the forest, the air was crisp, and the birds sang cheerfully, seemingly oblivious to the dark threats lurking nearby. I couldn't help but feel a strange mix of anticipation and unease.
"So, Riley," Seraphine said, her tone playful. "Did you sleep well last night?"

"Content?" I huffed, trying to sound indignant. "You practically smothered me with your arms."
