Chapter 28 - Nightmare

After Seraphine left the room, the air felt heavy and oppressive. I stayed in bed for a few moments, trying to calm my racing heart. Her words echoed in my mind, mingling with the anger and confusion that still burned in my chest. I took a deep breath, then got up and walked to the mirror, tilting my head to get a good look at my neck.

There was nothing there. No sign of a magic circle, no faint glow, just my skin. I frowned, running my fingers over the spot where Seraphine had touched. "She must have said that as an excuse to touch me," I muttered to myself. It seemed like something she would do, always finding some way to push boundaries and get closer.

Shaking my head, I climbed back into bed, pulling the covers over me. I needed sleep, needed to clear my mind. But as soon as I closed my eyes, I felt the exhaustion take over, and I drifted into a deep, uneasy sleep.
