As the weekend is steadily approaching, another group is also beginning to take action. At a wharf, not too far away from the city, the man in glasses is waiting, looking out at sea, alone. It was then that his cellphone started to ring as he immediately pick it up, not even checking who the caller is.
"What did you find?"
There's only one person who'd call him at this hour, and that would be his assistant that he had stationed at the facility that once housed the girl; Shiro.
"Research division?"
It came as surprise to him as he takes a puff from the cigarette in his mouth, illuminating his face in the dark night. He's been following the girl for many years, ever since her existence was first found, so he found it strange that Lieutenant Ilaria would purposefully bring her back there.
"So they want to figure out her other side, huh..."
Slowly, his assistant forwards all the information she had gathered today.
"I see... Anything else?"
So far, the information given isn't really interesting the man at all after hearing that she couldn't give any more information regarding the girl's other half.
"What? 45%?"
Just like Lisa, who had been monitoring the girl on and off, he has also kept tabs on the girls condition from working alongside the military. This information caused the man to take the cigarette from his mouth.
"Hmmm. So her mana has yet to fully take it's proper form..." His voice trails off in a muttering tone.
That's the general consensus when it comes to people with mana, although he is skeptical considering the girl's existence. The higher the concentration of mana usually means that the person will have a harder time controlling it. Of course there are exceptions, which he believes the girl might be one of them, but what's bothering him is that the girl's mana concentration hasn't changed for over 18 years, which is unheard of.
"Is there anything else?"
Finally having got something good, he tries to get more information from his assistant, but nothing else was said; apart from-
"Swimming?"
The last bit of information took him my surprise as he puts the cigarette back into his mouth, breathing in more before exhaling the smoke into the air.
He's been waiting for a chance to try and get the girl, but nothing has happened since the recent incident at the abandoned warehouses. It was too risky for him to show his face, especially with how renowned he is as a hybrid. He didn't imagine that the Lieutenant would take the bait like that.
"Alright. Thank you. Call me if you find anything else."
He hang up the call with his assistant before immediately beginning to dial a number, one that he had done before.
"Hey. Meet me at the northeast of the city... Yes, the usual place... Bring the others too."
The call only lasted for about ten seconds before he hangs up. The other people on the line sounded quite annoyed, but that didn't both the man one bit. In the publics eye, they're essentially criminals, no matter how you look at it. It'd only take one phone call for them to be put behind bars, or even killed. If the man wasn't a hybrid and instead a regular person, too weak to fight, then he wouldn't have this much leverage. It's only during times like these that he is happy to be a hybrid, to be feared.
Thirty minutes later, a car pulls up at the man's location. He disposes the butt of the cigarette at a nearby trashcan before walking up to the car.
Three people come out from the car, two men, one woman.
"What do you want." The burly man is the first to speak to the him, looking as though he's already about to start a fight as he clenches his hands into a fist.
"I hear you had quite a fight the other day, taken down by just a girl."
"You said that she'd be docile!"
Of course, these people that have came had no idea of the power that the girl possessed. Seeing them pissed off like this only seems to amuse the man as he couldn't help but smile towards the three people in front of him.
"That was your mistake. You got quite close to killing that Lieutenant, did you."
"Well, yes."
"And that's exactly where you failed. I told you I wanted her alive."
Of course he didn't know how exactly the girl would react to seeing Charlotte near death like that, but this did serve as notable information. He of course kept this to himself.
"You say it like it's easy. You do realize she's a ruler."
"So? It's not like she's all that powerful. Even someone like me could easily win. Yet you all couldn't contain her. How stupid can you lot be-"
"Khh!"
It was then that all three of them charged at the man, with the woman whipping out blood from a phial in order to take control of it.
"Hah~" He simply side steps the burly man's attack, which is enhanced with wind magic. The other man tried to use earth magic to entrap his legs in the ground, but he simply pulled he simply used wind magic himself, focusing it around his legs, freeing himself from the vines before the blood attack could land. "How disappointing-"
In the next instant, he buried his hand into the burly man's chest, channeling more wind magic around his fist before sending him flying towards the other man. Using the now open space, he closed the gap towards the woman in but an instant, sweeping her legs from under her before slamming her dead down onto the pavement, causing cracks to form in the concrete.
"Are you not going to listen as to why I brought you out here?" He says before pulling the now dazed woman from the ground before throwing her to the two men.
He waits for a moment for the three of them to collect themselves as he himself simply straightens his suit.
"The girl will be taking a little swim this weekend here in the city."
"So?"
"So, I'd like for you and your men to scope it out."
"What men? You do know that the girl is the reason for our loses!"
"I'll handle that. I'll send some people your way. Just do as I said. Ah, but don't make a scene this time. If you happen to get the opportunity, then take it. If not, just get intel. Now if you'll excuse me-"
With that, he leaves the three of them, walking off without saying anything else. There's been less cases of criminals lately, but there's other ways to find people to throw their way...
