Chapter 100 - Start Of A New job

It's been a few days now since our little outing at the mall and things have been going as well as they could. Shiro's been focusing hard with Lisa with her combat training as I continue to watch them even now. Shiro's form is still not as solid as Lisa, but that's to be expected. However, Shiro does seem to be able to read Lisa's moves quite well now, even going as far to anticipate the next move before it even happens.

For people able to use mana-sense, it's possible for them to predict what your opponent will do. It's not as though they can see into the future, but more so that you can feel what they're about to do and with what part of their body depending on where they're focusing their mana on. As for me, I've just gotten used to fighting through experience, and if my opponent isn't optimal, I take advantage of any openings.

With Shiro however, she's improving quite fast in my eyes. I'm sure Lisa also sees it. She might be using mana-sense without even knowing it.

"Okay! We'll stop here- for now" Lisa says, but I can tell that she has broken into a sweat a bit.

"Thank you again, Lisa!" Meanwhile, Shiro doesn't look phased at all...

It could be because her body's so used to regenerating that she barely feels fatigue, which is honestly one of the key pillars in fighting, learning where your stopping point it. If you push yourself to the limit, if you suddenly have to fight longer than you thought, your life will end right then and there. So for Shiro to have even more endurance than Lisa is quite something, especially since Lisa even beats out me in that regard.

They both sit down next to me on the bench outside, Lisa now chugging a bottle of water as Shiro opts to just sit down next to me, a big smile on her face.

"You did great, Shiro." I give her my honest thoughts.

"Thanks!"

"Haah~ Yeah. You still need to work on your attacks and counters, but your evasion has improved a lot. All you need to do now is get the feel of it." Lisa says having finished almost half of her bottle. but her words just now has be a bit confused.

"You say that like she's ready for actual jobs." I end up voicing my concerns, but Lisa simply smirks at me.

"That 'is' what I'm saying, haha."

"But Shiro can't even use her mana yet."

"Well she used her mana when we came to save you, right? Maybe on this next job she can find that feeling again."

"Next job?" Don't tell me...

"Yup! I just got it today."

We end up moving back inside as I look over the new papers that Lisa spread out. It's honestly quite a lot as there seems to be six different jobs. I guess we have been slacking off lately for my recovery, but I feel like I've recovered enough. I'd say I have about 80% of my movement back.

"Hmm?" But it was then that I noticed something that was prevalent in all of these jobs. "These are all in the other world?"

"Mhmm!"

Normally our jobs consists of dealing with high risk jobs in the human world. So for us to be given jobs from the other world, they would've had to be passed down through the adventurers guild. But wouldn't these jobs be handled by the people there? Looking at these papers, they're all subjugation jobs, most of them dealing with mostly monsters...

"I pulled some strings to secure us some jobs in the other world. I figured Shiro could feel more comfortable there in hopes to awaken her mana more smoothly."

I guess that makes sense. The other world was where I first started using magic, so maybe Shiro might also find it easier.

"Wait, so we're going to do jobs in Luna's world?" Shiro asks us as her eyes dart between Lisa and I.

"Seems like it." I end up patting Shiro on the head. A smile surfacing on my face. I'm glad that it's just adventurer jobs...

"Ah, but these will need to be turned in to the guild. You still have your guild card, right?"

"I think so? I check my room. One sec."

It's been a long time now since I've done guild jobs... I don't remember ever brining it to the research facility, so it should still be here at Lisa's.

Making my way into the room, I scour through the drawers to no avail. It was when I saw a card wedged behind the drawer did I finally find it.

"Found it!" I saw as I join back up with Shiro and Lisa.

"Great. It would've been quite expensive to get it replaced, haha."

"Wait, wasn't it cheap though?"

"That's when you still were just 'stone' rank, haha. Of course it'd be cheap."

Right... It's been a while, but upon looking at my card, a shiny green crystal is inside the top left corner with a letter displayed 'A' just above it.

"Uhm... What does this card do?" Shiro now having taken an interest, looks over the card as well.

"Oh! Perfect!" But just as I was about to explain the ranking system to her, Lisa raises her voice in excitement. "Let's register Shiro before we do this!"

I guess that does help me with explaining things...

"Sure- wait..." In not time at all Lisa was already heading to the magic crest in the other room, carrying with her all the papers.

"Come on! Let's go!"

"Fufu. Alright. You ready, Shiro?"

"Nn!"
