Chapter 76 - Surprise Attack

It'll be hard to follow them without using mana as that woman will surely realize someone's following. Thinking so, after waiting a while to make sure they have left, I walk out to where the man died, looking on the ground for anything, but not even a single drop of blood was to be found.

"Damn..."

Suddenly, I feel a wave of mana coming from behind me as I quickly manage to dodge out of the way. In the same instant, a slice of water flies past me, crashing straight into the warehouse wall, making a massive slash against it.

"Oh? You managed to dodge it?"

Turning to the sound of the voice, is a man who also seemed to be dressed in the same attire as the people that were here just before. Was this a setup?

Using the brief amount of time I now have, I reach into my pocket before pressing a button on my phone, the button which instantly sends a message to Lisa's phone. I guess the best way to describe it is a distress beacon.

"Who are you." Wanting to buy some time, I speak out to the man that's steadily approaching me.

But instead of answering, the man continues walking towards me. I end up growing out a nail in preparation to cut into my palm in order to draw out some blood, but in the next moment, I hear the cars from earlier return from behind me. I don't want to take my eyes off the man, but I end up doing so for just a second, and not surprisingly, the people that left just before are now back.

"Looks like the kid fell for it."

"Fufu, but to think the info we got would be this accurate."

The woman and another man from behind me chatter amongst each other. In terms of raw mana output, the man in front of me seems much more of a danger than the woman, but again, her control over her mana is quite high. This isn't looking good.

What's worse is that the grunts, the weaker guys that came out from the car have drawn their guns as I can also sense that they are enchanted with magic. It's like they've been prepared this whole time for something like this.

"Hey." The burly man in front of me speaks up as I direct my attention to him whilst still on alert with the people slowly surrounding me. "If you don't want to die, do as we say and put your hands behind your back."

"You don't want to kill me?"

"That's not for us to decide."

Could this be what Furor wanted? Was the information leaked somehow? Did they come here, knowing that I'd show up? They didn't mention Furor, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Looking around, everyone with guns have them pointed towards me. But I do see that there will be some crossfire if this does come to that. My only concern is what their weapons are enchanted with, not to mention the other stronger people here.

"Then who is it?" I try and buy more time and continue to ask questions. If Lisa is able to get here with backup, maybe this can work out.

"You don't need to know." The woman says while walking up closer behind me.

Turning my head to face her, she does appear to have red eyes, a clear indicator that they're a vampire. It looks like they don't want to wait around with my questions. Do I just make a run for it? Wait, this could be good... I'm not sure if anyone else here can use mana-sense, but if I can just take out this woman and run, I should be fine.

Thinking that, I put my hands behind me, following their orders for now.

"Oh? Co-operating now are we?"

I remain silent as I wait for her to come closer, but I'm more focused on the people around me. It'll only take an instant. The moment they let their guard down, the moment they think I'm secured, that's when I'll make my move.

"Well, I'm not stupid enough to try and fight a fight I know I can't win."

"Fufu, you flatter us. Bind her."

"Yes, ma'am." So she isn't going to be the one to do it? Smart of her, but my plan doesn't change. She's close enough already so all I need to do is wait just a bit more.

I press my nail against my palm, but not enough to draw blood. With a vampire here, she'll immediately pick up on what I'm doing, so I have to wait for the last possible moment. And just then, a number of the men with guns begin to lower them back down the moment my hands get grabbed by the person behind me. I take the moment to quickly stab my nail into my palm before immediately shooting out my blood into a large spike, piercing the man behind me.

"Gh- aaaaah!" His screams echo behind me as I quickly draw out my blood spike.

Not wasting even a second, I form my blood into a long, thin sword before twisting behind me, making a slash at the woman.

"Oh!"

But she manages to dodge it in time, leaping backwards quite away from me. I use that moment to run towards a group of the men that have now lifted their weapons back up at me. It was a gamble, but I manage to make it in time right before the people from the other directions begin to fire.

I quickly disarm one of the men in front of me, snapping their arm from their elbow before twisting myself behind them, using them as a shield to block off the magical attack. But in the next moment, before I could use the momentum to continue running in the opposite direction, the persons body I'm using exploded in front of me as a massive amount of pain courses all around my front, as my blood that's pouring out of me mixes in with the chunks of flesh and blood that was once the person's body. I quickly use blood magic to hold my blood inside me, keeping myself from bleeding, but from this massive cut, it's already quite draining as is.

"Not so fast."

Damn...
