Chereads / A Cursed Child's Dilemma / Chapter 5 - Change Of Pace

Chapter 5 - Change Of Pace

For most of my life, I had no reason to walk, not that I was even allowed to thanks to my restraints. A part of me did want to make a run for it when my collar was removed, but since I was in the presence of that woman, someone who I deemed I could trust, I stayed my ground.

"Can you stand?" Again, words I'm not familiar with, however I do pick up that she's asking it like a question. I'm the only one in the room with her, but how am I meant to respond?

"Alright, excuse me then-" Suddenly, I feel my body being pulled before I begin to feel the table leave my body. It took me a moment to figure it out, but am I in her arms right now? "You fine with this?" Again, she asks a question that I don't have an answer to. Not knowing what to do, I simply remain still, letting her carry me as she pleases. "Hehe." Despite not getting any answer from me, for some reason she begins chuckling at my silence. And in the next moment, I feel my body begin to bump up and down in sync with her footsteps. I couldn't help but look back at the time when I was first brought into the room. It wasn't like this, but I distinctly remember being carried, however I don't remember it being this warm...

"Here we are~" After some time walking, another door opened up as the woman exclaimed. Again, her words are beyond me...

"There! How is it?" I don't even bother trying to understand her words as I'm too busy trying to understand what it is I'm laying on. The woman has put me down on something ridiculously soft, as my bottom sinks deep inside it, my thighs feel as if they're being hugged on both sides. I put my hands down onto the surface to investigate, and just like with my legs, my hands also sink into it as I add more force.

"Bed." Huh? She said one word? Even though I can't see, I look up to where she might be, trying to understand.

"This-" She then placed her hands over mine, pressing down my hand as it sinks deeper inside it. "Bed." Is she trying to tell me what this is?

"Bed..." I say the same word back to her as I pressed down on it once more.

"Yes! That's right." So this is called a bed?

"Bed." I say it once more.

"Good, good. Here, lay down-"

It was then that I felt her hand rub against my back as she gently tries to bring me onto my back, but I instinctively resist; probably due to the table I'm so used to being on...

"It's okay, it's okay~" However, her voice resonates inside me as I feel a sense of comfort from her hands. I soon give up at resisting and follow her lead as she gently lays me down on the bed. It was then that I was met with something under my head, something that is somehow even more soft than the bed I'm laying on. What is happening? It's even wrapping around to the sides! Even my neck feels like it's getting hugged!

"Hehehe. Pillow." So this thing under my head is called a pillow?

"Pillow." Again, I repeat her words back to her.

"Yes! That's right." And again, she says the same thing as before. So this is a pillow...

"I know you don't understand what I'm saying right now, but we'll get through this together, okay?" Can we go back to speaking one word at a time please? I barely understood any of that... I then focus back on the softness that's enveloping me as I try to move around on it, seeing if there's any more softer parts, although it's quite hard to see with this mask obscuring my vision.

"Sorry..." Just then, as I was familiarizing myself with this bed, I hear words that I recognize. Why is she apologizing? "It must be difficult, but do bear with it for now." She's sorry about something, but I struggle to understand what it is she's sorry about.

"Thank you." So instead, I give her my thanks, hoping to maybe ease her worry.

"How can you be like this after everything..." Not knowing what to say next, I simply continue to look for softer spots. "Ah! Wait!" But suddenly, at the same time as her panic infused words, I feel my hand meet nothing but empty air. Since I was expecting to find more of the bed, I put my weight into my hand, which lead me to start falling as my body soon smashed against a hard surface.

"A-are you okay?!" Another question that I don't know... At her unknown words, I get up from where I landed as I pull my weight back onto the bed. "Hahh~ You're alright..." She lets out a sigh of relief as I crawl back onto the bed. I guess this bed doesn't stretch as far as I thought...
