Chapter 5 - The Surprise Guest

Ten hours after killing the boss orc, Jose was now on the run through the ravaged city. Everywhere he turned, he encountered scenes of horror: gruesome deaths, monstrous creatures, and towering giants stomping through the streets as if crushing ants. Amid the chaos, he saw survivors, but he avoided long interactions to prevent implicating them in his perilous quest.

**Sub-Quest: Orc Rampage**

**Objective: Defend against the wrath of the Orc Horde**

**Time Limit: 24 hours**

The final roar of the Orc Boss has rallied all remaining Orcs to attack. You must now face the onslaught of the Orc Horde, defending yourself against their relentless assault. Your survival hinges on your skill, strength, and resourcefulness. Prepare for battle, for the fate of the city rests in your hands.

**Reward: 5 level ups, Rampage skill**

Good luck, Jose Rizzer.

As Jose sprinted through the debris-strewn streets, the weight of the sub-quest hung over him like a dark cloud. "Damn that pig! Giving me all this trouble," he muttered, though deep down, he felt a thrill. Each challenge brought him closer to greater strength, and he relished the opportunity to grow even more powerful.

After defeating the Orc Boss and enduring ten hours of relentless attacks from the remaining orcs, Jose now stands at level 20. He allocated his 24 new physical points as follows: 9 in Muscle, 5 in Skeleton, and 10 in Brain. This prompted the system to grant him two new skills: a passive skill, "Minor Flexibility," which enhances his body's flexibility, and an active skill, "Overdrive," which boosts his brain activity by an additional 10% for three minutes. After numerous battles, Jose has amassed 1500 gold, gained from the countless orcs he has killed.

Surprisingly, after the battle, Jose's weapon mastery upgraded to "Heavy Weapon Mastery," likely due to his use of multiple heavy weapons. He also gained another active skill, "Confusion," which can put the enemy into a confused state for 30 seconds. With 12 new skill points, Jose allocated 5 to his Heavy Weapon Mastery, upgrading it to level 10, and 4 to Smoke Magic, also bringing it to level 10. The remaining 3 points were added to Confusion, upgrading it to level 4 and extending the skill's duration by another 10 seconds, he also treasured the Great Battle axe of the Orc Boss and made it his main weapon.

Here are Jose's updated stats with the removal of the "Whirlpool" skill:

Jose is currently running due to the relentless onslaught of orcs. Occasionally, he attacks when his mana recovers, but now his mana is only at half, so he keeps running. "Where is the best place to hide?" Jose wonders as he activates his Overdrive skill, which enhances his decision-making abilities and gives him a faint sense of how many orcs are following him. He thinks about finding a building to limit the orcs' movements. He needs a smaller building, preferably three floors high, to avoid attracting the attention of giants and flying creatures above.

After a quick scan of his surroundings, Jose decides on a narrow three-story building. Its confined space should prevent too many orcs from entering and moving freely. Fortunately, there are many such buildings in the city. Without hesitation, he randomly picks one and dashes inside. As soon as he enters, he notices a multitude of slime creatures. He doesn't bother with them and simply stomps on them as he moves further into the building, hoping to find a safe spot to recover and plan his next move.

One by one, the orcs flooded into the building like a torrent, their senses keenly attuned to Jose's presence. Despite the danger, Jose found a hidden, inconspicuous corner to bide his time. When he felt the number of orcs inside the building was sufficient, he activated his Smoke Magic and Confusion skills.

Thick smoke quickly filled the area, and the confusion spell took effect, throwing the orcs into disarray. Jose attacked the nearest orc, and a chain reaction ensued. In the chaotic darkness, the orcs began attacking each other, unable to see their targets. Grunts and roars of pain echoed throughout the building, mingling with the sounds of clashing weapons and frantic movements.

Jose navigated the chaos with grim determination, striking down orcs that were on the brink of death. He moved swiftly and efficiently, making the most of his skills and the orcs' confusion. The battle raged on for an hour, with orcs falling one by one. As his mana finally depleted, the smoke began to dissipate, revealing the aftermath of the brutal fight. The building was littered with the bodies of fallen orcs, and Jose, though exhausted, stood amidst them, victorious.

But his celebration was short-lived as more orcs entered the building. Fortunately, due to the high level of Jose's magic, the smoke lingered and did not dissipate easily, perhaps also aided by the lack of ventilation inside the building. Jose retreated to the second floor to hide and recharge for another hour.

As the hour passed, the building was now almost filled with orcs from both the floor above and the floor below. However, Jose's mana was back to full, and after the intense onslaught, he had gained another level. He allocated all his new points to his Brain stat, further increasing his mana capacity and the effectiveness of his Smoke Magic.

He once again activated Smoke Magic and Confusion, initiating another bloody frenzy. With his increased stats, Jose no longer hesitated and began slaughtering all the orcs he encountered. Wielding the axe he had acquired from the Boss Orc, he moved with lethal precision.

Unbeknownst to Jose, a similar bloodbath was occurring upstairs as the orcs turned on each other in the smoke-induced chaos. He remained focused on his battle on the second floor, carving through the orcs with deadly efficiency. His movements were fluid and unstoppable, each swing of the axe taking down another foe.

As the battle raged on the second floor, Jose also made his way to the first floor, continuing his relentless assault. The building echoed with the sounds of clashing weapons, pained grunts, and the heavy thuds of bodies hitting the ground. The smoke and confusion wreaked havoc among the orcs, their own weapons turned against them in the chaotic melee.

Jose's experience and skill were evident in every move he made, cutting through the horde with a newfound confidence. The orcs were powerful, but they were no match for his strategic use of magic and the raw power of his attacks. The second floor was soon littered with the bodies of fallen orcs, and the battle downstairs intensified as Jose continued his ruthless onslaught.

After eight relentless hours of battling, the once formidable horde of orcs lay decimated. The building was now a gruesome battlefield, with orc bodies strewn across every floor. Blood smeared the walls, and the air was thick with the acrid stench of smoke and death. José realized that no orcs from the third floor had come down, and he took a heavy breath as he downed another stamina potion. It was his fifth of the day, costing 50 gold each, which added up to 250 gold. However, with the numerous orc bodies around him, he had earned more than he spent. Each orc body was worth 20 gold, and every weapon fetched 5 gold. José diligently collected all the bodies while there was no new horde of orcs in the building, his gold count now sitting at 3500. While it might seem like a significant sum, José knew it wasn't enough considering the expensive items in the store. As he ascended to the third floor, he noticed many orc bodies charred to a crisp. Puzzled, he activated his overdrive skill and discovered a shivering boy hiding under a table in what appeared to be a daycare center for children.
