Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR- WAR TAKE YOUR PLACE

Words are beginning to spread so fast about Clema's pregnancy, even beyond the gates of Parius palace. At that moment, everything was about to change, the villagers, the nearby kinsmen, and all other small villages and city blocks were all shook with the news of the pregnancy. Some have it that; 'if an invader could have such boldness and audacity to sleep with the princess not to talk of impregnating her before the day of their wedding, what immoralities could they expect more in their village, even after his dark but silent means to become king of Leuz remains unknown'. Nonetheless, more rumors spread about the news of the pregnancy, some believed it was just a rumor and nothing short of it, because there is no valid credence from the king nor from his heralds- that Clema was indeed pregnant for Pash, some even gossiped that the princess could truly be pregnant because she has always been wayward and careless, who knows she might be pregnant with a bastard. This was all rumored following the first two months of her hearsay pregnancy.

As usual, General Iroh's spies have never ceased a timely moment to dispatch appealing news to the general's ears, so they head back to the kingdom of Leuz at once. Meanwhile, King Parius observed the situation and know truly well her daughter was pregnant, therefore he was keen to know who impregnated her, knowing well the eerie stark events in Leuz presuppose her current situation.

"I am going to ask one last time. Who is the father of this baby"? Parius in his resonant thick but subtle voice echoed.

In her perplexed state while staggering, Clema weeps silently after her father scolded her to tell the truth. The reeling emotions on her face soaked the heart of Parius once again. He brought her around his shoulders and embraced her tightly.

"Please speak to me my daughter, you know you are all I've got left, I never barked or scolded you in a way like I have did ever since you were born. Look, this here- is the future!". He pointed to her belly and continued.

"And with the way things are turning out to be in this village, the rumors of an unknown father, the waywardness of the princess of Spartak, this and that, I need to avert these incoming consequences at once before it reached the palace of Leuz. So please tell me honestly my dear, who got you pregnant? He asked in a subtle and overly polite manner.

"I'm so sorry father, I didn't mean for any of this to happen, I seriously didn't mean to commit this great sin over this kingdom" Clema continues as she withdraws herself from the coll of her father's.

In that moment, Parius could expect nothing else than her to tell she is pregnant to Pash.

"It just happened all of a sudden, I was with my maid on the lakes of Amad when I decided to have a private shower near the banks of the river. Thereafter, I saw Parah, and it happened so fast that we consent to having sex. She said with utter disbelief and strong tears on her eyes.

In exclamation, Parius asked "You knew Parah before now?" Parius asked as his pride fell down through the lens of his eyes.

"So Parah is the father of the child?" He continued, looking faint and relentless in his steady weak feet, gently drawing away and out of the chamber.

"I am so sorry father, I'm so sorry" Clema wept endlessly on her flat knees as she watch her father course through with bitterness.

Two weeks later, Parius was in a black ragged cloak on his way to the border of the village of Spartak in the middle of the night, he was escorted by two of his bravest soldiers who alike were dressed raggedly

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the next bastard to the throne of Leuz or should I say king of Leuz" Parius whispered and burst into laughter with his visitor.

"I should have known better when your mother was my father's bitch". The bottom line, you wouldn't know… it's General Iroh in a dark wrinkled cloak, masked as a beggar, he reiterated in great ambience.

"It's in the blood I guess, I am not surprised when an old codger like you will go so desperate to don the marks of Uthar on his wrist at an old age, you son of a bastard" Parius reiterate as they both laughed endlessly.

"You totally don't believe that shit, do you?" Iroh looked at him and asked sarcastically as they both laughed tirelessly and embraced each other.

Few minutes later, they gestured to the guards, instructing them to leave.

"I summoned you my old friend because you are my only last resort, the news about my daughter has..." Iroh paused him in low defiance.

"The news about your daughter getting pregnant to Parah, the youngest son of Govin". Iroh reiterated, looking so serious like never before.

After hearing this, king Parius was extremely worried.

"But how did you know" he muttered gently.

"It's almost as bold as the Azures of heaven, I sensed it the very first minute I saw Parah at the palace a day before the summer game. Uff, relax, I can vouch the king is not aware of the situation". General Iroh quickly attune to bring his oft conscience mildly into the dip.

In quick sigh of relief, Parius asked.

"So what do you suggest we do?"

"We!" General Iroh substantially queried him, "What are you waiting for, speak to the king, have Pash and Clemas' marriage fixed as soon as possible. As the king's right hand, I can help with that cause, but listen to me carefully and listen well, I am aware of the secrete relationship between you and the queen of Leuz. I do not know your intentions, but I do not care"

Parius couldn't resist the shell bomb, he almost fainted in his body.

General Iroh continued, "Oh spare me, I know every whispers in every tight corner of this village, every words, every channels of repulsion against the tax policies imposed by your people against the king, but you know what…" General Iroh looked subtly into the eyes of Parius, "Let's keep it that way. Although like I said, I do not know of your intentions to the kingdom of Leuz, and I don't care, I need the queen for my whimsical targets, and you are going to get it done for me? Am I making myself clear Parius". General Iroh asked dangerously in a way Parius couldn't resist.

He summoned for help, instead he got a 'betraying help' and one that could truncate his own ambition to become king of Leuz. However, General Iroh reasoned with him based on some substantial benefits that attracts him and his prospects.

"But what about Clema, you could sense she is in love with Parah, I don't know what to do about her" Parius asked, looking so confused and weak on his stand.

"But of course you are her father, it's about time to start acting like one, take away all her privileges and remind her the beckoning consequences if she refused the marriage, you are a cunning man like myself Parius, the ball is in your court".

"What do you think Pash would do if he finds out about the pregnancy" Parius hesitatingly asked.

"Leave him to me, I will handle him" General Iroh answered and fidgets his robe.

Moment later, they arrived where General Iroh kept his horse, he hop and reminds me of their discussion.

"There was good reason for this meeting tonight. It was plain like I thought it will be, perhaps not what you might be expecting, but proffers a lasting solution for your tribunes, and you know- sometimes, a man has to be a real man with his odd decisions. If all this goes south, there is no way I can help you or your clansmen, you should think about it." General Iroh said as he takes his leave.

Moments later, after intense hours of pondering, Parius headed back to his palace and instructed the guards to be on watch over with the princess.

"The princess under no circumstance is allowed to leave the palace, I want all her maids dismissed, no one should be allowed to speak to her nor is she allowed to speak with anyone, do I make myself clear? Parius asked wittingly to call on their most pledged service to the throne of Spartak.,

"Yes Sir" the guards answered without an iota of fault.

  1. Two months after the summer game, people start sensing that the princess was having a protruded stomach, hence they believed she is pregnant, but for who? just after they considered her untouchable among her peers
  2. he guessed, not like as if he knows it to be the truth, but the expression on parius confirmed his thought
