The token hummed faintly. Cyrus felt like its glow was illuminating the other party's calm expression and it was irritating to him. His voice passed through it, reaching to the duo, strained and controlled. He waited, his tone a little low, as he asked once more, "What do you want?"
Erik leaned slightly forward as he asked, his voice cold and to the point. "A route to StormCradle." He knew Cyrus knew about the route, the ledger had everything in there, except for the route location.
There was a pause, as if Cyrus was thinking about how to make the situation favorable for him. With a measured tone, he said, "I don't know of any such route." Now he waited for their reaction, an answer already prepared for every situation he thought was possible.
"Okay," Erik said, his voice sharp and final. Without hesitation, he cut the connection. The token went dim, telling them that the conversation was over.
