"What kind of trouble did that brat get into this time?" Eyrx said to himself, his gaze fixed on the monster before him. He couldn't tell how Liam had angered such a being. But his thoughts were cut short as Deka's figure blurred, and in the blink of an eye, he was standing right in front of him.
Eyrx froze, his body tensing. Instinctively, he raised layers of barriers around himself, bracing for the strike that he was certain would follow. Teeth clenched, he prepared to endure it. But nothing came.
Cautiously, he glanced at Deka, only to find him staring back at the drenched Eyrx with a flicker of amusement in his eyes.
"You truly are a failure," Deka said. His voice felt a little cruel. He casually flicked at Eyrx's barrier, which shattered instantly, as though it had never existed. Before Eyrx could act, Deka vanished, once more, just in time for a slash to pass through where he was standing.
