Chapter 38 - 38. Rudra's Retirement

1970 and After, Bharat

Bharat was able to steadily develop in this period. Taking back Pakistan proved a boon as we don't have to worry about constant threats of war and terrorism from 2 fronts.

While our relation with the Arab countries are friendly but still I don't trust them completely. We may not have to worry about Pakistan but these countries may also try to incite protests and terrorism. That's why we keep a strict watch over these countries while presenting a friendly front.

Regarding business, even during the formation of constitution I strongly opposed the strictness in giving licences to companies. And after winning in 1965 elections the first bill I proposed was to make the process even simpler and faster.

I don't want the condition of my previous world to repeat itself where forming a company may take months or even years. I want to reduce it to no more than a week which includes everything from acquiring land and registering the company.

In 1965, we opened our economy towards some countries which are not too far from us in terms of technology from us. This will bring competition and counter the monopoly of the big brands.

A committee was set up to keep a watch over censor board so that they can't harm the comic and anime industry and subtly manipulate our Sanatan religion.

Solar panels and windmills were set up in villages and the revenue generated from this was used in developing villages and building concrete houses for them.

Proper toilets and drainage system were built in villages just like Indus Valley Civilisation where the waste was diverted into farms to be used as manure. The drainage was built deep inside the ground so that pipes are not damaged during ploughing.

A biofuel plant is set up in almost every village now which helps in disposing agro - waste instead of burning them and provide free fertilizers to farmers from the waste produced during processing.

Recently new engines were developed that could run on a mixture of biofuel and petrol. Right now it can only handle a consistency of 5 percent biofuel and 95 percent petrol but R&D department of every company is trying to increase the consistency. We also want to increase the use of biofuels to heavy machines as well.

Some companies even developed a crude version of Uber by providing auto rickshaw at a per day rent to rickshaw driver. Ofcourse they cannot send the rickshaw directly to your doorstep due to lack of internet and it's used but it was a start.

Seeing the profit in this sector many other industries were centralised. From cycles to household things all of their market was centralised. Even the bangle making of Firozabad was centralised with proper guidelines towards the safety of its staff.

In 1966, Nambi joined the ISRO in the same research center as APJ Abdul Kalam. But I knew his true talent and a year later he was send to Princeton University where he completed his masters. While he was not able to do anything major but still I tried to keep the timing same so he could bring the equipment from Britain.

In 1970 after a last decision to open our economy globally and to remove the reservation on caste basis and simply making it on the basis of earning, I finally retired from active politics at the age of 75 but still remained as party president.

In this time, I mostly focused on my company but I kept my focus on the political field as well. I built a completely indigenous 4th generation computer.

In 1971, Nambi was able to bring the equipment from Britain for free. And after the mission in France he developed the Vikas engine in 1973. Than he was transferred to the cryogenic department on my recommendation. When I met him after the development of Vikas engine I told him to try to build a cryogenic engine indigenously as well instead of buying the technology.

At the same time APJ was made the project head of building SLV to launch Rohini satellite. He completed the task in 1980 while also coordinating two more projects for building ballistic missiles. While this time as well these projects didn't give any yeild but the research from these projects were used in building other projects.

Around 1976, I discovered that my party has been slowly moving towards corruption since my retirement. So after gathering enough proof I decided to end my party and let some other party take the lead.

So after the finishing of tenure of both state and central government which is decided at the same time to reduce the expenditure, I held a press conference in which I showed the proof of corruption of my party members and dissolved my party due to it.

I knew that opposition party like Congress will try to takeover power that's why I also brought proof of the corruption of their members as well. All the members with corruption charges were arrested of my party and opposition party.

I promoted the party of Atal Bihari Vajpayee in this election because he alone wouldn't have been able to win the election in front of Congress. I also convinced him to run for the post of PM. While he didn't wanted to become PM but I was able to convince him.

His party which was called BJP from start due to both our parties having same abbreviations otherwise took in the innocent members of my party.

Due to my support he was able to achieve the majority and become the PM. His visionary ideas and his dedication towards his work was remarkable. He also started new projects for missiles in which we achieved remarkable success. After that we just kept creating new and better missiles.

But it was still not enough to counter the sharks like US and Soviet so on my advice we decided to privatize the defence industry but on the condition that government will hold 40 percent shares and all the deals with foreign nation will have to seek the approval of government.
