I love games. Some call it an addiction.
They may be right.
I don't understand some people.
Winning is everything. But some people treat it like it's nothing.
In my past life, I won at everything.
I won until I realized that some people should win as well.
Everyone always said I was selfish.
BUT I LET THEM WIN IN THE END!
It makes me upset. I bet they think they caught me on their own.
I regret it, letting them win was my mistake.
This time they won't win.
In my last life, I was labeled a serial killer.
I wouldn't have become a serial killer if it wasn't for how easy every game I played was.
It's not my fault.
From sports, board games, and video games, I was the best. The game of school was too easy, I never studied for a second, yet I received a perfect SAT, no grade of mine dipped below 100 ever, and valedictorian was mine with ease.
Unrelated to school, I had the highest IQ ever recorded, with a score of 782 which smashed the competition by eons.
The game of sports was easy as well, number 1 in the nation in baseball, soccer, and even basketball.
Video games were fun but too easy. Every game I played saw the username, "Jinx" at the top of the leaderboard.
Of course, I was famous too. I was regarded as a prodigy in sports and school.
So I created something that would make me happy and excited!
The Game of Games.
I purposely became as well-known as possible, with everyone knowing where I was - always. And at the peak of my fame, I began the game.
Of course, I set some rules so it wasn't too easy. I could only kill on Wednesdays, that way law enforcement could prepare for me. It'd have to happen between 1 and 3 pm, just in case it wasn't easy enough. And I only killed famous people.
I started on the first week of the year 20XX.
I killed 781 people without being suspected for a single kill. During those weeks, I became a professional soccer player and was regarded as the best to ever touch a soccer ball.
On the 782nd week, I decided that I wanted them to taste the delicacy of winning.
So I gave them hints on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.
782 hints, to be exact.
And they still only managed to catch me after I had gotten my last kill.
They didn't have the decency to even thank me, they just shot me on the spot.
No proper trial, I could've gotten out scott free if it wasn't for the dickhead who shot me.
They didn't deserve to win.
I shouldn't have let them win.
But it's okay.
I won't make the same mistake this time.
I've been reborn into a different world. It's earth, but everyone I knew isn't alive. No companies are the same, yet there are true equivalents.
Lucky for me, I'm the same. Same name, same dashing smile, same personality, etc.
There is one glaring difference though.
I have another obstacle.
Its existence is an insult to mine.
Clearly someone finds it funny that I lost a game.
Not winning was the only mistake I've ever made.
A mistake I will never repeat.
Not because I won't be playing that game anymore.
Because I'll play it.
I never leave a game unfinished.
This win will be as satisfying as possible.
I will be the only human to witness the end of the beautiful game.
I was sitting on the side of my bed when an entity appeared.
This entity was a freakishly tall, skinny figure with no eyes or nose.
But it had ears and a mouth.
"Julius Frome" it called my name with disgust, "A creature so different that in The Land Above you are recognized as your own species."
So my theory on higher life forms was correct, as always.
"What's your name, acquaintance?" I asked, unbothered by its... unique stature.
"A name you need not know," It hissed at me, there was clearly something about me that it didn't like, "Welcome to a game the greatest life form made just for you."
What? I don't recall making games for living creatures like that ugly thing.
"Us in The Land Above do not appreciate your existence, however, the True Life Form gave you a way out." It continued, "You have to achieve World Dominance in this world. There will be no handholding. In fact, we've decided to create a system that handicaps you, this system takes away capabilities you possess, and always distorts reality just to stop you.
