Chapter 2 - Nice to meet your acquittance.

Sarah felt her mind wandering into darkness she couldn't move, or even feel her body.

She was scared, and she wanted to scream, but she couldn't even more her lips.

Then she felt something tuck her consciousness, she tried to resist, but the force was too strong as it pulled her.

She opened her eyes as she grasped for air while tucking her chest.

"Hi" the boy said as he returned to his sitting position.

Sarah looked around as she saw multiple bodies of Nulllings all around them with what seemed like deep sword slashes, he grabbed his shuffle as he tapped on the play button a couple of times but groaned in frustration.

"Fuck, it dead" he said as he got up and looked around.

"Hey language" Sarah yelped.

"where are you going?" she asked as she blocked his path.

He slid the shuffle into his pocket and weaved pass her.

"Who are you?, what's your name?" she asked again as she followed him.

"Frank" he replied as he turned and ran toward her, she stepped back as she stretched out her hand to block him from approaching her any closer.

A dagger appeared in his hand, Sarah swallowed hard as he ran passed her and suddenly disappeared only to appear a couple feet behind her and thrust his blade in the air.

A loud shriek filled the air as he twisted his blade and the shriek died down only for a dark creature to appear from the tiny air.

Sarah took a look at the creature as it breathe it's last before groaning as it died.

It was a level VI[6] shadow creature, an Echo-fiend the same one that attacked her before.

It's features were easy to remember, it was an Ethereal being with shifting forms that walked on all fours with a large mouth and no eyes, it could camouflage and create a loud squeak sound that could disrupt brain activities and cause death to people in it's close proximity.

Not only that, but it usually took a team made up of like of 4 to 6 III[3] ringers to drop one, and he just killed it with ease, she turned to look at him walking away as she hurriedly followed him.

"Wait, we can wait here while I called an evac team to pull us out" she informed him as he looked unbothered.

"Your guys are already gone, I heard them call on that thing as they called for survivors before leaving. They're gone" he finally replied as he turned to leave.

"Wait we can recon in the nearest recuse tower a couple of miles north"

"it has already been destroyed overran by these guys and trust me you would rather not travel north"

"Where are you going?" she asked again as he sighed

"I am looking for something" he replied as he changed his direction and headed north.

"Wait where you're going, I thought you said I shouldn't go north" she asked as she followed behind him.

She grabbed his hand as he summoned a knife, and she summoned a Glock as he placed the knife on her throat while she pointed the gun to his head.

"Let go of my hand" he asked as he pulled it away and walked from her.

She tapped the radio coms on her vest a couple of times as she tried to pick up a signal, but she got nothing.

'I should have never taken this job' she thought to herself before she ran after him.

Sky eclipse tower—Location unknown.

"Captain please permission to speak" a ginger hair boy called out as he stood in front of a red haired tall man with a lot of beards, the tall man was wearing a red sleeve with the arms rolled up to reveal four black stripes around his left arm.

He nodded as Ethan walked closer to him "sir I don't think it was a good idea that we left Sarah—i mean Alpha XVI[16] out there"

"Hmm, we were being outnumbered six to one, and we had a level VI[6] Echo-fiend on the loose, but your concern was that we left a dead scout in the battlefield" he replied as he scratched his beards.

"No sir, what I am saying is that Sarah is a valuable asset and—"

"Alpha III[3] do you have a problem with the way I run this team?" he asked in anger as the four stripes on his arm lit up in a blue hue.

"No captain John" Ethan replied as he immediately pulled away.

"Good you know I had always admired your courage and even requested that you joined my team at the recruiting exhibition, please don't make me kill you" he replied as the stripes dimmed to their regular black color as he smirked and walked away.

Ethan knew he was no match for John, the difference between a Teleportation Sage and a Quantum Maestro was immense, but he couldn't stand the fact that he left Sarah out in the old world to die.

He pulled back his hair as he made his way to his room, and he had to think of a plan to save his childhood best friend.

"Ethan Rainfield, please report to the administration office!" a female voice announced over the speakers as he stopped in his tracks,

"Fuck" he groaned as he turned around.

Old world ruins—Paris, France.

He had been walking for a while as Sarah could only manage to drag her feet and follow him, he was humming the tone of some song she wasn't familiar with. She lost concentration and almost fell face first.

He stopped, looked her, almost smiled before he continued his march of death.

"Come on, is that how to treat a lady" she cried out as she managed to get back on her feet and follow him, as she drew closer to him, she saw he had stopped in his tracks as the cold wind rustled against her skin.

She could smell the earth bubbling up and could immediately tell it was going to rain, unlike where she was from where the rain was controlled by water drones and simulated to fall the old world had unplanned rains and most times they attracted unwanted attention as she could see the hordes of level I[1] Nulllings gathering on the ground below them as they looked from a partial collapsed building over head.

"Guess we will have to turn around" she said as she slowly started to retreat, but frank did something no normal person would.

He clicked his tongue and jumped down.
