We chased the person through narrow alleys, open areas and streets when I saw a shadow infront of him, I quickly used shadow step and caught him, holding him tight. "GOTCHA!", I screamed. He just looked confused as how I caught him.
"How the fuck did you get here so fast...", he scoffed, "I'm not telling anything! I AM A PROUD MEMEBER OF THE OXUS CULT! WE WILL WIN!", he screamed out, a purple color coursed all around his body, like it was his veins. "HOLD ON! JUST WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?", I asked. He just laughed. "HAHA, I'M GONNA TAKE YOU WITH ME!", he told me while he grabbed me tighter. The person's body started to swell up until he finnaly exploded. I got knocked against a wall with an enourmous force that left a crack in the wall.
Aria hurried to me to check up on me. "I'm fine...", I assured her. She breathed out in relief. If I hadn't used the system to create a barrier around me in the last second, I would most likely be dead. I stood up again and walked over to the pile of flesh and blood. I picked up a piece of his robe, a weird sign was in it that was shining purple just like his veins.
"I'm going to take this with me. We have to report to the headmaster.", I told Aria. She nodded at me. "Are you sure you're fine? Can you walk?", she asked. "Yeah.", I answered as we walked to the headmaster's office and knocked on the door. We went in and put the cloth on his table. He looked up from his paperwork and looked at it. His eyes widened shortly in shock but he tried to act like normal. "What is this?", he asked. "A hooded person was having a talk with another student, they were talking about domination of the other races... and a specific time coming up soon. We followed him as he spotted us, when I caught him he exploded without a chant.", I calmly said. "I see. We'll look into it. Thank you, it is getting late so get some rest.", he spoke.
Following his advice, I walked back to my dorm. I passed a clock, it was 11:27 pm. "Emilia must already be asleep... I wonder if I should tell her. I mean it is a concering matter for her as she is an elf.", I thought as I entered the dorm. She wasn't yet sleeping, moreover she was sitting alone at the dinner table, some burnt and undercooked things were on the stove.
"JIN! YOU'RE BACK!", she said as she ran at me and hugged me. "Where were you?", she asked. "Had some things to take care of. What is up with those... failed meals?", I questioned. "Uhh... you know that I'm not a good cook... and since you weren't here, I thought I'd try it out myself.", She said while I facepalmed. "I'll cook something.", I sighed. She smiled happily and hugged me tighter then went back and sat down again.
"So... what did you have to take care of?", she questioned me. I went over to the stove and put in some pork into the pan. "Oh... look. It might be scary... but if you really want to know, I'll tell you.", she nodded eagerly. "Please, tell me.", she said determined. And so I explained the whole story, she was quite shocked when I finished. "Oh... that is certainly concerning... Jin... I want to ask you something...", she said. "Yeah, go ahead.", I told her. "You said they want to dominate the other races... that also includes me... do you think they will harm me?", she asked. My head snapped at her, "What? No. I'll be here for you, I'll protect you with my life, I promise.", I smiled at her.
I put the meal on the table and sat down infront of her. "You really don't have to be scared. There are often people that hate the other races because of wars in the past. We are at peace right now, and even if another war would break out, I would still be on your side. I would still be your friend.", I assured her. She smiled, "Jin... you really are a great friend. When I came into this school I expected to be an outcast, to be bullied, but thanks to you, that didn't happen. I'll repay this kindness, I promise.", she muttered. "Now eat up. You must be hungry.", I told her.
The next morning she was still sleeping, this time I made a quick breakfast and then woke her up. She is quite the opposite of me, she got up instantly like it was a command from a Sergeant. We had this nice breakfast and discussed the day. Our first class was runecrafting.
After eating, we both set out and went to the class. As we got settled, our teacher, Ms. Monroe, entered. "Ah, I see. Jin Smith, you're here for the first time I suppose. You have been causing... quite some trouble, though not in the bad of course.", she said while having that usual sweet smile of her's. "Anyone mind recapping the last lesson?", she asked. Emilia raised her hand and got picked. "Last lesson we learned that runes are just magic spells imbued into a special type of stone. We also made our first rune stone.", she answered. Ms. Monroe clapped her hands proudly. "Well done, Emilia.", she said.
While the other students had to do an assignment, she came over to me to explain what they did, she handed me a stone too in which I imbued a simple fireball spell. The runestone can hold a large amount of mana, if the mana amount gets too high, it gets crackes and then fully shatters if exceeded too high. My stone had a few little cracks, Ms. Monroe stared in amazement. "No wonder everyone is so fond of you. You got a massive amount of mana.", she said proudly. Of course I had a massive amount of mana, I had effectivly infinite.
She continued the class like usual when I got pulled out by the headmaster in the middle of the class. He had the other DC members with him. We walked down the hall into his office and all sat down. "You might be confused why I brought you guys here. Aria and Jin here found a person in a special robe from a cult named "The Oxus cult". We have found out their mission is to dominate and effectivly eliminate every other race than humans.", he said. My eyes widened. "So these assholes wanted Emilia too, huh?", I thought. There was one more person that was even more enraged than me, it was Lyra. I figured why she was mad. She was an elf too. "THE FUCK YOU MEAN THEY WANT TO KILL US?", she screamed out. Kael tried to calm her down and she settled down again. "We have found their hideout but they.. posses a unknown magic. Jin has experienced it on his own body. They can... let their own body parts explode but they regenerate insanely fast so you have to kill them in one strike. I don't know how Jin survived, but he should've been dead. A-Rank adventurers were send to investigate, only 1 returned. He said the others got killed by exploding cultists.", he added.
Everyone broke out in murmurs. "ENOUGH.", the headmaster screamed. If you see any of these people on the school grounds, you HAVE to kill them. We suspect they are demons in disguise. That means they not only want to kill elfs and dwarves and so on, but also us humans. You guys are here for the safety of the students. So be sure to protect them if needed. Dismissed.", he said finnaly. We all got up and walked back to class which was already over. I spotted Emilia on the halls and walked over to her.
"Hey.", I said. "Hey.", she respoded. "You remember the cultist situation from yesterday?", I asked. "Yeah, how could I not? They want to kill me.", she answered. "Well things just got worse. They're demons. They want me too.", I said. She just looked at me scared. "HUH?", she looked terrified, like a rabbit in the face of a lion.
