There we met Ruphelius the third and his little gang, the guys who annoyed Emilia. We stared at eachother, I took a step infront of Emilia shielding her. Instead of trying again, they apologised. They bowed their heads and said, "We are deeply sorry. We were really drunk and weren't in our right mind. Please forgive us.", how people change, but it was better than wanting revenge on me for harming them.
They passed us and we continued walking to our next class. We arrived at room 109-B, theoretical magic classes. Theory, the shit I hated in my previous life too. Atleast it wasn't all too difficult as it's the first class and I had prior training from Eldrin. The whole class I thought about things I would want to do, there were old ruins packed with monsters, similar to dungeons in video games. There was also an adventurer's guild which I would want to try once... I got woken up by a angry Ms. Sinclair. "Jin, would you please not daydream in my classes? The beginning is the most important part of all, so please pay attention."
The whole class laughed at me, aswell as Emilia, though this time I didn't feel any shame like I would have in my previous life, instead I just laughed with them. "So, does anyone know what changing the size of a spell does?", Ms. Sinclair asked. I raised my hand, "Yes, Jin.", she spoke out. "When the spell is smaller, the damage increases because more mana is gathered in one spot.", I answered. "Very good.", Ms. Sinclair praised. Maybe this time I would be good in school, but it's the first ever class so it's to be expected. The rest of the class I continued daydreaming.
Emilia woke me up as the class was over, our next class was... maths... the one subject I despised the most, the one I held hatred against, "I just hope it won't be too hard...", I told Emilia. "Don't worry about it, I'll sit next to you, I'm quite good at maths, you know?", she reassured me. I smiled at her, "Thanks.", I said.
We arrived in the class and sat down, Ms. Harper entered. She introduced herself again in a monotone voice. Suprisingly, the class was really easy, like elementary school, though most kids were as clueless as kids in elementary school so I had enough chances to shine, even Emilia looked at me, "What were you scared of, you might even be better than Ms. Harper herself...", she said. "Oh, stop it. I had some previous education from my mother and all...", I defended myself, also it was an obvious lie but kids trust everything you say, so it was fine.
The class passed quite fast, when we were about to go to the next class, physics, the headmaster called me to him. I sat down at his table. "Hello, Jin. I called you here... because you are... quite outstanding. Dual mage with a Shadow affinity, far ahead in maths and most likely every subject...", he confronted me. "Well, firstly... hello, Mr...", I said. "Mr Collins. I forgot to introduce myself yesterday.", he corrected. "Okay, hello, Mr. Collins. I ask why you want to speak to me today.", I asked. "It has one simple reason. You seem to be far ahead and don't need to study much. Also your magical capabilities seem far ahead, I suppose you know that we have a disciplinary comitee, I would like you in it. You are stronger than most students from what I've heard from Mr. Blake.", he said. "Well, I don't really know... Am I really fit for doing that? I mean, I can try. Will there be any benefits for me?", I questioned. "Yes, there will. You get one free meal in the cafeteria per day, you will also get a small amount of money, a new uniform, and a paper that you've been part of the DC, which is good to have when applying for a job.", he said. "So be it, I can try it out.", I told him. He gave me my new uniform, I got changed and ran to my physics class with Mr. Cross.
I sat down next to Emilia, the usual uniform is white with black stripes, the black stripes symbolize the year you're in. My new uniform was black with golden stripes, because we were first years, we only had one stripe. "What's with that fancy uniform?", she asked. "I'm now part of the disciplinary comitee.", I answered. Emilia smiled at me, "That's great! I'm happy for you. I think we should celebrate that with a nice dinner...", she muttered. It was clear that she only wanted me to cook nice food again, but I had nothing against it. "Yeah, let's do that."
After physics class, the school day was over. Emilia and I raced back to our dorm, I could've just used Shadow step and teleported there basically, but I let her win. She did a little dance and then entered the room. I looked through the fridge, we had less and less groceries. "AY, EMILIA, IS CHICKEN WITH RICE FINE? THAT'S BASICALLY ALL WE HAVE LEFT!", I screamed to the other room. She just screamed "YEAH!" back and I started cooking. A bit later she peeks around the corner. "It smells really good... when is it finished? I'm hungry... like really hungry...", she said. "About 5 more minutes.", I answered.
I called her over to the table, the meal was as good as yesterday and I was praised by Emilia again. We both had a great laugh, she was feeling tired and went to sleep, but I went out on the balcony and looked down on campus. I saw 2 hooded figures in the distance, they were painting against a wall. I looked closer and it said, "Elves, Dwarves and any other, disapear, Humans superior.", I used Shadow step and went down, I touched their shoulders. "Interesting art you made there...", I told them. They were both really shocked, they turned around and went into a fighting stance. "Look. You guys got 2 options. 1. You go and tell the headmaster about your deeds and admit to your wrongdoings OR 2. I beat the shit out of you and drag you there myself. Because no racism is allowed at this school.", I threatened. They got scared and tried to run away, I just slowly followed them and used Shadow step to get ontop of a roof to look down on them. They went into a corner to hide but I just appeared infront of them. "Please don't cause unnecesarry trouble for me. Be nice and go to the headmaster yourself.", both of them shivered in fear. Instead of going, they rushed at me. Raising their fists to punch me, I caught them both and threw them off balance, then swiped them off their feet, I put them over my shoulder and looked into the headmaster's office. I looked at a shadow and used Shadow step to get there. I dropped both of them off. "Here are some people that made "art" in form of racism.", I said.
Instead of being happy I caught them, he was confused on how I got in here. "How the fuck... did you just get here..?", he asked. "A spell, Shadow step. I can go to any shadow insight.", I answered. "But it's night time...", he said. "I can go everywhere where no light is basically. Doesn't matter now, deal with them yourself, I wanna sleep. Goodnight~.", I said while waving my hand and teleported back into our room.
"Where were you?", Emilia asked. "I stopped some racists. First deed as a DC member.", I answered. "O-Oh... thank you.", she said. "Huh? Why thank you?", I asked. That was the first time I saw her ears, she was an elf. "You know... because I'm an elf and all...", she responded. I tried to play it cool and not show that I had just found out about her being and elf. "I would've done that anyway. Even if it weren't directly adressed to you.", I admitted. I climbed into my bed and turned off the light. "Emilia, tomorrow I won't be in class, I have a meeting with the rest of the DC members... so would you be so kind and show me your notes tomorrow?", I peeked over to her. "Yeah, no problem at all.", she giggled. "What's so funny?", I asked. "Nothing, nothing at all... just being in a room with a DC member... seems a little bit crazy to me... well you are crazy yourself too, Jin.", she said. We both laughed and went to sleep, finnaly.
