Chapter 4 - Familial Severance II

"Oh sure let do that" Yi Chang said lightly.

As Yi Chang leaned back in his chair, the tension in the room seemed to thicken with each passing second. The room was lit by the warm glow of the chandelier overhead, casting long shadows on the faces of those present. Yi Fan seated next to his wife adjusted his glasses and gave a satisfied nod. While she with a smug expression, her eyes glinting with a mix of triumph and anticipation.

The documents for the transfer of shares had been laid out meticulously on the polished shiny mahogany golden metal table with geometric legs giving it a modern and luxurious feeltable. They were now poised for Yi Chang's signature, the final step in what had been a carefully orchestrated scheme. The accountant, Mr. Kang, shuffled through the papers, his eyes darting nervously between Yi Chang and Yi Fan.Butler Feng, standing slightly behind Yi Chang, wore a furrowed brow. Despite his usual composed demeanor, concern was etched deeply into his features. He had tried his best to dissuade Yi Chang from going through with the transfer, arguing that it might not be the best course of action. Yet, Yi Chang's resolve had been unwavering.

"Young Master, please reconsider," Butler Feng urged, his voice soft but firm. "Selling your shares will sever your ties to the company completely. There might be alternatives we haven't explored yet. This decision..."

Yi Chang cut him off with a gentle but firm shake of his head. "Old Feng, I appreciate your concern. But this is the path I've chosen. This a chance Uncle Yi Fan has provided, Nengliang Games is not my concern anymore."

"But Young Master, this decision could have long-term implications. You are giving up more than just shares; you are relinquishing any future influence you might have had," Butler Feng said, his voice tinged with desperation.

Yi Chang's gaze softened as he looked at the old butler. "I understand your concern, but my decision is final. I must do what is necessary for my path. I value your support deeply. But this is something I need to do."

With a resigned sigh, Butler Feng nodded. "Very well, Young Master. If this is what you truly wish, I will respect your decision."

Yi Chang turned his attention back to the documents. Yi Fan's hand twitched slightly as he reached for a pen, his eyes flickering with barely concealed eagerness. "Let's finalize this, shall we?" but whether was that was his true thought is unknown

Yi Chang picked up the pen and signed the documents with a fluid motion. Each stroke felt like the final nail in the coffin of the Old Yi Chang, marking the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter focused solely on his cultivation and preparation for vengance. He slid the completed documents across the table to Mr. Kang, who quickly checked them over before nodding in approval.

The atmosphere shifted as Yi Fan's face broke into a satisfied grin. "Excellent. Everything is in order. We'll transfer the 5 million yuan to your account immediately."

Yi Chang simply nodded, his face expressionless.

As they prepared to leave, the room was filled with a buzz of activity. Yi Fan and his wife exchanged whispered comments about the successful transaction, their smiles widening with every word. The accountant hastily packed up the documents, while Yi Chang's cousins who hasn't said a word since they got here looked on at Yi Chang with a mixture of curiosity and disdain.

It was then that Yi Fan's son, a tall, slightly handsome young man with an air of entitlement, swaggered forward. His clothes looked clearly expensive, but his unkempt appearance and the lazy smirk on his face gave off an impression of someone who had never worked a day in his life. His posture was slouched, as if the weight of responsibility was something he never had to carry. His eyes, however, were filled with disdain and jealousy as they focused on Yi Chang.

"So, you've sold everything, just like that?" he scoffed, his tone dripping with condescension. "I always knew you were useless. A greedy coward, willing to throw away everything for a quick payday. Don't you feel ashamed, giving up your inheritance so easily?"

His words were meant to sting, but there was an underlying immaturity to them—a spoiled child's attempt at sounding superior. His sneer revealed the satisfaction of someone who had never earned anything but felt entitled to everything.

Yi Chang met his gaze calmly, unfazed by the insults and almost detached expression. To him, the young man's words were nothing more than the complaints of a mortal who had been handed everything but understood nothing of value. "It's my choice to make" Yi Chang replied coolly.

The young man sneered, his lips curling into a mocking grin. "Sure, run away from your responsibilities," he shot back, his voice thick with arrogance. "Let's see how you manage that 5million of yours." He laughed out loud, a shallow, hollow sound that echoed with overconfidence.

Yi Chang remained composed, his mind focused on the path ahead, unaffected by the empty taunts. "Do as you please," he said evenly, his eyes never wavering. "My decisions are mine alone. Now, if you'll excuse me, you may all leave. I have other matters to attend to."

With that, Yi Chang turned to Butler Feng, his voice calm but firm. "Old Feng, escort them out through the door, please."

Butler Feng nodded immediately, stepping forward to carry out the request, while Yi Fan's son, still sneering, muttered under his breath as he left. The tension in the room dissolved into the cool silence.

Once the last of them had left, escorted out by Old Feng, a profound stillness settled over the room. Yi Chang stood alone, the weight of the past finally lifted. Severing the ties to the previous Yi Chang's life had not been an act of loss or surrender. No more lingering attachments, no more family obligations—just the vast, uncharted path of cultivation before him.

His eyes gleamed with a sense of liberation. Selling off the inheritance had been a necessary step to free himself from the trivial burdens of this world. With no ties to the old Yi Chang's feelings or relationships, he could now focus entirely on the journey ahead. His enemies still lurked in the Endless World, and the omnipresent Heavenly Dao. Yet, he knew this earthen plane was likely still within the Heavenly Dao's reach, which could make things more challenging.

But none of that mattered now. His primary focus was cultivating—not just to regain his former strength, but to surpass it. A grin spread across his face as he thought of the cultivation technique he had created, 'The Chaos-Cosmos Coherent Cultivation Technique.' It was his own creation which even he doesn't fully understand, as well unravel the true mysteries of his origin.

"Now... it truly begins," Yi Chang whispered, his eyes glowing with anticipation for the path ahead.
