The screen showed the study, empty and silent. The camera's timestamp indicated it was late at night, long after most of the staff had retired. Suddenly, a shadow moved across the screen. Christopher leaned forward, his eyes narrowing. But the figure was just one of the guards on his regular patrol, and the tension eased only slightly.
They watched the guard complete his round and leave the room, the study once again falling into silence. Marco fast-forwarded through more hours of nothingness, the minutes ticking away in agonizing slowness.
Finally, as the first light of dawn began to seep through the study's heavy drapes, Christopher slammed his fist onto the desk, the sound echoing through the room. "Damn it, Marco! There has to be something we're missing!"
Marco flinched, his nerves frayed from hours of tension. "Boss, we've gone through all the footage. There's nothing here. Maybe...maybe it wasn't caught on camera."
