Chapter 66 - 66: The Kind Doctor

Thirteen days had passed since Silver entered the forest for his rite of passage.

After choosing the Savage Wolf as the beast he was going to kill to succeed in his rite of passage, Silver had used the last three days to make sufficient preparations to make sure he not only ensured his survival, but also his successful rite of passage.

He made sure to simulate numerous fights against the beast using his Phantom Combat skill. He made sure to take note of his surroundings and how to make the best use of it.

And most important of all, he made sure to make use of the most crucial lesson his mother taught him.

Creating poisons and medicines.

When his mother learnt of his declaration to kill and bring back the corpse of a savage beast for his rite of passage, she told him she was going to help him.

How?

By teaching him how to create poisons and medicines.

His mother, Eleanor Morningstar, was a foreigner.

She was not a Spartan, and whenever Silver asked about her background, she merely told him she had none.

According to his mother and the rumors he heard from the mouths of soldiers, civilians, and other foreigners, his mother and father went through a lot of difficulties when it was made public that his father, their crown prince, wanted to marry a foreigner.

No matter how talented and powerful a foreigner was, it was against their culture and the law for somebody of a royal bloodline to marry a foreigner.

The consequences were dire.

But his father had done so without caring about the consequences.

And his grandfather initially opposed them. But a while later, to the confusion of the commoners and even foreigners, his grandfather no longer opposed them and even accepted their marriage.

However, that did not mean the commoners, nobles, and even members of the Morningstar family accepted the marriage.

If not because his father was the crown prince and he also had the support of the king, his father, the marriage would have never taken place, his mother would most likely have been killed, or at best, she would have been sent out of Sparta with a ban that prevented her from ever entering Sparta.

It took a while for the commoners, some nobles, and also some members of the Morningstar family to accept his mother, but it did not take too long.

His mother had a way with words and her socializing skills were top-notch. She was able to easily win the hearts and trust of the commoners, and also gain the favor of some nobles and members of the Morningstar family.

But obviously, been only skilled with words and top-tier socializing skills was not enough to win the hearts and trust of the people of Sparta.

It was her top-tier medicinal skills and kindness that truly made most people, especially the commoners, trust her.

His mother was literally the best physician and doctor in the whole of Sparta, and she had a very good reputation due to the fact that she did not collect a single penny for 99% of the treatments she performed.

The commoners had a good impression of her. Some nobles had promised to assist her in any difficulty she faced in the future. And even some members of the Morningstar family had been saved by her.

She was usually called The Kind Doctor.

These were the words and rumors of several commoners and foreigners regarding his mother.

However, for Silver, that was a load of bullshit. For him, his mother was not a Kind Doctor, she was a Kind and Mad Doctor.

The number of times she had performed experiments on him was insane and the traumas he had accrued during those experiments could not be numbered.

His asshole was no longer a virgin. That much he knew.

His mother taught him how to make several non-medicinal elixirs, poisons, and medicines that he could use depending on the situation he found himself in.

She also told him how some poisons worked on certain beasts, but didn't work on other beasts.

And the poisons he planned on using on the savage wolf were Duskbane Venom, Grimroot Paste, and Shadowcap Tincture.

Duskbane Venom causes dizziness, hallucinations, and eventual paralysis. In high doses, it could even be fatal.

Shadowcap Tincture causes severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and liver failure. And even small amounts can be lethal.

And Grimroot Paste causes muscle paralysis, which can lead to asphyxiation if not treated.

To be honest, if one were to know of all these three poisons that Silver planned on using on the Savage Wolf, they would say it was overkill.

Even Silver felt like it was overkill.

A small dosage of Duskbane Venom and Grimroot Paste could prove to be extremely deadly for the savage wolf should any of the two poisons enter its bloodstream. Talkless of the Shadowcap Tincture which was the most lethal of all the three poisons.

Only people that had a very knowledge of plants and poisons would know what these three poisons were, and those people were exceedingly few and their numbers was not even close to the three digits at all.

At the moment, Silver's stood on a tree that was some meters away from the savage wolf, watching the beast move to its little territory in the Greenbelt with a feral deer in its jaws.

Silver watched with patient eyes as the savage wolf devoured the deer with its eyes contantly looking around with a vigilant gaze.

Although it was a savage beast, it knew just how weak he was compared to the other beasts in the Greenbelt. That was why it stayed in the outer area of the Greenbelt.

The beasts in the inner area were just unfathomably strong for it.

After what seemed like forever, Silver watched as the beast devoured the entire deer, and then it closed its eyes to sleep.

A minute passed, but Silver waited.

Five minutes passed, but he still waited.

Ten, Twenty, Thirty, even Fourty minutes passed… but Silver still waited patiently. His eyes patiently scanned the breathing pattern and body movement of the Savage Wolf in its sleep.

Another five minutes passed, and a wooden spear with a red liquid on it appeared in his right hand.

He exhaled deeply, and then threw it with all the force he could muster.
