Chapter 26 - 26: Silas Morningstar (2)

One of the reasons why Major Kade stopped escaping after he saw Silas Morningstar launch his spear was because he knew he could not escape it no matter what he did.

The spear was controlled by the spiritual sense of Silas Morningstar, and from his perception, he knew that the spiritual sense of Silas Morningstar covered not only the entire battlefield but beyond it.

Unless he found a way to drastically increase his speed, Major Kade knew that only death awaited him if he did not find an alternative, and luckily, he did.

The metallic disk he placed on the floor was a prototype of the most current project of Technotopia. Normally, he was not meant to use it at this stage since it was said to be unsafe for use, nor was it designed to be used as an escape method from a freaking Sage!

But what choice did Major Kade have?

It was either he chose certain death or an uncertain death.

And he would always choose uncertain death.

When he activated the disk, he knew that there was a possibility of Silas Morningstar choosing to attack the disk instead of him, since Silas Morningstar was a Sage, and his perception towards spatial energies was higher than everybody on the battlefield.

Major Kade knew this, and he had thought of a plan to ensure that the spear of Silas Morningstar did not interrupt the activation of the spatial disk. Though, he did not like the plan at all since it required him to sacrifice his hard earned light saber.

"Goodbye. I'll miss you."

Major Kade mumbled, and with a cold expression, he pressed the self-destruct button on the lightsaber, and he threw it at the incoming spear with as much force he could muster.

BOOM!

The ground cracked apart, and the wind stirred aggressively as the lightsaber flew at a supersonic speed toward the spear.

Crack

The sound of bones breaking resounded in the ears of the surrounding Spartans, and they all looked at Major Kade. Their eyes widened in surprise as they saw Major Kade's distorted, broken, and bloodied right arm.

Despite the hate and anger they held for Major Kade, they could not help but be impressed by his conviction and immense desire to survive.

Such conviction and desire were something that earned the respect of the Spartans.

"Haha. I guess this is the consequence for going above my physical limitations."

Major Kade chuckled softly. He looked around, and when he saw the respect in the eyes of the Spartans, he scoffed.

'Who wants your respect monkeys?' Major Kade derisively thought, then he focused on his lightsaber.

As the lightsaber approached Silas Morningstar's spear, the spear swerved to the left, attempting to dodge the lightsaber, but Major Kade scoffed.

"You seriously think I didn't think of that?"

Major Kade spoke out loud with a tone filled with pride and disdain even to a Sage!

He stretched out his only working hand, and as he did, the lightsaber also swerved to the left, and every single individual heard a grunt of annoyance from the sky.

As everybody watched the two weapons approach one another, they didn't dare blink. The spear with a golden light, lightning, and fire all around it resembled the wrath of god, while the glowing lightsaber was akin to the defiance of weak mortals against the gods.

A technotopian recruit blinked, and just as he did, his ears ruptured apart and a heavy gust of wind blew him from his feet.

"Ahhhh!"

The technotopian screamed in horror as he flew. Just as he regained his senses, he felt a sharp object pierce his chest and his eyes widened in horror and fear. He looked at his chest, and he saw a sword, and that was the last thing he saw.

This was a common occurrence on the battlefield, and several weak and unfocused Technotopians and Spartans died or had severe injuries as a result of the cataclysmic explosion above.

Meanwhile, Major Kade's expression was one of horror and bafflement as he looked at the cloud of smoke and dust which contained various colors.

"Monster." A soft mumble escaped his lips as he watched a small hole appear from the cloud of smoke above.

Despite his plan to stop the descent of the spear, he realized that the only effect his sacrificed lightsaber had on the spear was to temporarily change its direction, and slow down its descent for four seconds.

"He's stronger than I expected. I guess the rumors and fears of the higher-ups were not completely exaggerated and unfounded." Major Kade mumbled.

Despite the approaching spear and the 'failure' of his plan, Major Kade was calm.

Why?

Ting

"It's finally done." Major Kade released a soft sigh as he heard the soft sound of a bell chime coming from the spatial disk.

He turned around, and just as he did, the sound of glass breaking apart resounded in the ears of Spartans and Technotopians alike. To the shock of the Spartans and the majority of the Technotopians, a human sized spatial crack appeared above the spatial disk.

"Hmm? I thought it was meant to be a portal?" Major Kade thought with furrowed brows, then he nonchalantly shrugged.

He attributed the formation of the spatial crack instead of a portal to be because of the distorted energies in the skies and battlefield, a hypothesis that he guessed could be mostly correct.

'Or maybe the calculations of the scientists were wrong?'

Major Kade did not know, nor did he really care. He was glad that he was alive, and had escaped a calamity. He gave one last glance at the spear, then he shifted his gaze to the distance and smiled.

And then, he walked into the spatial crack.

The spatial crack closed at a fast pace, but before it finished closing, a lightning bolt appeared in front of the spatial crack and entered the spatial crack.

"ARRRGHHHH!!!!"

What followed was a roar of anger and fear that shook the hearts of Spartans and Technotopians alike.

A second later, the spatial crack closed and complete silence engulfed the entire battlefield. However, the silence did not last for long.

Approximately four seconds after the spatial crack closed, a crushing weight engulfed the entire battlefield, and a cold and emotionless voice flowed across the battlefield.

"Spartans!... Kill every single Technotopian."
