Chapter 29 - Chapter 29

- You understand, Alexey Gennadyevich, that Krapivin's behavior was beyond what's acceptable now. The current conditions demand...

- The current conditions demand the establishment of a strict hierarchy and absolute obedience to the elders, young man. And they don't demand anything else! We don't need this puritanical morality. What's natural is not obscene! But your inappropriate behavior and disobedience to my orders are simply outrageous!

- No one here chose you as the leader, Alexey Gennadyevich, for me to blindly obey your orders.

- I! I'm the leader here! - the leader shouted directly in his face, - I'm the highest-ranking chief among those present!

- Well, logically speaking, we were vacationers, and the highest-ranking chief responsible for all of us is the sanatorium director, not you. After all, you're only the leader of half of those present here. For the rest, you're just a vacationer like them. And the sanatorium management takes precedence.

- But the entire sanatorium management agrees with me and supports me!

- I will remind you that you were not appointed by people and not chosen by them. You were not given any authoritative powers by any means. I personally did not give you such rights over me! So let's behave more appropriately to the situation!

- You, brat, will tell me about appropriateness now?

- Yes, you! Because I am responsible for my own future and do not need your valuable instructions!

- Your future is in my hands. As I say - so it will be! I'm the boss here! And you will follow my orders - now and in the future!

This argument could have continued for quite a while, but it was interrupted. Mikhail Orlov squeezed himself between the two men.

- Enough scaring people already, - he said kindly, - It will start getting dark soon, and we haven't finished everything yet.

He was unexpectedly supported by Olga Viktorovna, who, agreeing that "Mishenka (Mikhail) speaks the truth," dragged Alexey Gennadyevich away to the shelter.

Alexander also didn't linger and went to his dugout. Halfway there, he found his entire company.

- Eavesdropping?

- Keeping our finger on the pulse of the social life of our tribe, - Sergey joked.

In the dugout, they began discussing really important issues. Although at first, of course, they had to listen to the enthusiasm of the female part of the company about magic and how great it is. Then the conversation turned to the recent incident.

- We need to remove him from leadership positions; we won't be able to cook porridge with him.

- And who instead? The sanatorium director? He just looks at Gennadyevich's mouth and doesn't make a move!

The director of the sanatorium, where they still hadn't managed to relax, was indeed a completely spineless person. Finding himself in a new, frightening environment, he couldn't offer any ideas and soon began simply following all the deputy general director's orders. And judging by the sensations, he didn't like the orders himself, but he needed them, as he couldn't make any independent decisions.

- Why another director? We have Sasha (Alexander) here. A born leader, no worse than your Gennadyevich, and even better in everything.

- Olga, don't get all fired up, - surprisingly, but the main generator of radical ideas in their company was Olga, - Better imagine how it should look.

- And what's there to imagine? Let's take power into our own hands and tell everyone what to do, and that's it!

- And how will we be different from the current leadership?

- We'll be better!

Realizing that things could get out of hand here too, Alexander decided to smooth things over.

- In our conditions, the leader should be someone trusted by everyone or at least the majority. I agree that we currently don't have worthy leadership, but I don't agree with taking power by force. I wanted to do that myself yesterday, in case the situation escalated. But there's no acute need for that now. The situation is idiotic, but starting a fight for power is the last thing we need. If necessary, we'll take everything into our own hands, if necessary, we'll elect our leadership by voting, if necessary, a leader will emerge in some other way. Time will tell.
