Chapter 51 - Chapter 50 Six and a half days while also dying twenty-four times

"Genesis Sync"

After returning to the palace John and Alea separated as they both had things to do in Genesis.

Aleah was apparently scheduled to meet up with her friends and continue trying to defeat the dungeon they were in while John had an appointment at the Weapons Hall.

John tried asking Alea about this dungeon she was raiding with her friends as it sounded difficult, however Alea just smiled before waving bye and left.

After John logged back in at the graveyard, he made his way back to the Weapons Hall where he was greeted by Giz'riner who had a big smile.

"Vincarna, welcome back. Here for more training?"

"That's correct, I need to finish unarmed combat before moving onto the next weapon." John answered with a smile before walking to an empty spot in the unarmed combat section.

"Oh, how many do you plan to learn?" Giz'riner asked behind him.

"All of them." John said without turning around before he stepped into the training circle.

Giz'riner froze for a moment before he broke out in laughter catching the attention of the other trainers and players.

"Giz'riner, what's so funny?" asked the fairy trainer with a smile.

"Vincarna just told me he plans to train in every single weapon we have here."

"Seriously? Has anyone ever achieved that apart from us trainers who spend every day here?" the fairy asked.

"Definitely not in Yesta Village and I can't say I have heard of it in any other village ether." The elf who was the oldest of the trainers confirmed.

"Well, this will be interesting, who wants to bet if he can do it or not?" Giz'riner asked.

The other trainers shook their heads and stepped away while saying.

"No chance, not after we lost the last bet to you on how long that kid would last.

In the training circle John was once again busy practicing the moves shown on the projection and as normal after six hours his vision faded as notifications filled his screen.

[You have died]

[Unable to lose a level as you are level 0]

[Because you died in the stater village you will not suffer the 24-hour logout penalty or have any of your stat points reduced]

[Re-spawning at the closest Re-spawn sight]

As normal when his vision returned, he scanned the notifications before heading back to the Weapons Hall where he continued training and after three more hours the projection vanished, and notifications appeared.

"Ten percent? Saida said that the buff should only be one percent, I will have to mention this to them later."

[Skills: Inspect, Herb gathering]

"Sweet it did round my ATP up so now its eight."

Happy with his results, he left the circle and headed towards Giz'riner while doing some calculations in his head.

(So before getting Parry and Basic Mastery I died twice for each and it's six hours before you die from hunger which makes twelve altogether.]

(Judging by what the time was when I started training Basic Unarmed Mastery and the time I logged out to go shopping, then take the time I logged back in and the time I died before till the time now.)

(Thirteen hours, it takes thirteen hours and two deaths minimum to learn a basic mastery, so all eleven weapons and the parry skill means I am going to be here for one hundred and fifty-six hours that's six and a half days while also dying twenty-four times at minimum.)

"Shit" John cursed out loud just as he reached Giz'riner.

"Something wrong Vincarna?" Giz'riner asked as he heard him swear.

"Nah am good I just realized something, don't worry about it, anyway I finished the un-armed training and want to try sword training next."

"Oh, nice work, one moment." Giz'riner said as he bent down to a weapon container near his desk and pulled out a wooden sword.

"Here you go use this for training." Giz'riner said as he passed it to John.

[Item Received:]

[Basic Wooden Sword]

[Rank: Common (White)]

[ATP: 1]

[Basic Wooden Sword: A Basic Wooden Sword that is used for training and has very little ATP.]

[Attention: You currently have no weapon equipped; would you like to equip this weapon?]

[Yes] [No]

"Yes" John said

[Basic Wooden Sword Equipped]

"Nice thanks Giz'riner." John said before heading over toward the practice dummies where other players were training with their melee weapons.

Once John stepped into the circle, he started following the projections' directions and six hours later.

[You have died]

[Loss of 1 level]

[Level: 1>>0]

[Re-spawning at the closest Re-spawn sight]

As John opened his eyes again and saw the notifications he could only say.

"This is so messed up."

He slowly started heading back to the Weapons hall but along the way he received a message from Thasinia.

(Genius Silver Scientist: John it's time to test the Mk 0 data come to the medical room.)

"Log out"

[Logging out, thank you for playing Genesis.]

***

After logging out John had a shower and threw on some clothes before heading over to meet Thasinia in the medical room.

"Hey kid, how is the training?" Thasinia asked with a grin as soon as John entered the room.

"It's so messed up; you know I just calculated that I will be doing this for six and a half days and have to die at least twenty-four times right?" John replied with a sigh.

"Such is the life of a researcher my boy, hard work and normally very little return, though in your case you're at least getting stats and a percentage increase for your hard work."

"Speaking off, I have a couple of things to report."

"First pass me the MK 0 so I can check its condition then I'm all ears." Thasinia said, taking the access band and putting it on the scanner before turning back to John.

"Go ahead."

"First off from my calculations it takes thirteen hours of training in the weapons hall to complete a weapons training and gain basic mastery in it."

Thasinia nodded in understanding then realized something.

"Wait, that does not equate to six and a half days."

"That's because you're not accounting for the skill parry, although it does not count as a hidden quest."

"Wait, you already learned parry?" Thasinia asked, surprised.

"Yes, why?"

"Normally you have to go through a lot of battles in Genesis to learn parry, hmm I guess that's why that strange post is in the training hall though apparently hardly anyone ever uses it."

"Really? When I first said about training in unarmed combat the trainer told me to start with the wooden man post." John informed her.

"Oh, sure they always advise you to start with that post no matter which weapon you choose first, however most people don't see the point, they think it's just a way to dodge people who throw punches at you."

"In a game where there are steel weapons, bows and magic most people consider that as pointless." Thasinia explained.

John nodded in understanding before continuing.

"Still six weeks' time in the starter village was more than most spend there, most players end up just doing a few quests to gain levels and then completing the mayor's challenge since it's not exactly hard."

"It makes sense why no one has bothered doing all the weapons training when they take thirteen hours each and that's when you're not stopping to eat to replenish your hunger."

John nodded in agreement before moving on.
