"....If you are this much impatient, then it can't be helped, I guess," she said, her smile widening.
"Well then, Yamauchi-kun, I want to offer you a deal."
Yeah. I was actually waiting for this.
According to my contract with class C, or rather with Horikita, I am prevented from making any deals with neighboring classes, to sabotage class C in the upcoming special exam.
In other words, I can't make any deal such that I would intentionally lose any number of events to class A for a certain sum of money.
And similarly, class C can't do the same thing either, to expel me.
However, these two conditions has too many loopholes.
In the first place, what would they do if they can't even find any evidence leading to the fact that I made a deal with class A?
Also, it doesn't specify which kinds of deals I can't make.
That means even if I agree to the terms with Sakayanagi right now, and am found out, there would be no breach of contract.
....
Just from these facts alone, I can be assure of the fact that, Horikita has some other plans in mind. Add itself to the matter of the previous night....
Well.....Let's leave it at that.
I have to focus on the matter at hand right now.
Sensing that I was in deep thought for some time, Sakayanagi chuckled a little.
"You really are a different person right now, Yamauchi-kun." She had a slight serious tone.
That should be the common reaction of anyone, who sees Yamauchi's current behavior.
I am not Yamauchi after all.
And, it's not like reincarnation is a concept of reality. It's just used in fantasy stories.
Keeping that fact aside, I should hurry now.
".....What's this deal you want to offer?" I asked her to make things quick.
"Oh, it's quite simple. I would make sure that class C wins this special exam, that would ensure your safety from expulsion. And in return, you have to be my informant in class C."
.
.
.
To be honest, I was kind of baffled by her proposal.
Not only, it's completely advantageous for me, but also, Sakayanagi didn't even mention about the information I know about Ayanokouji and her.
That's why I decided to recheck with her.
"...That's it?"
As I asked her this question, she tilted her head in confusion.
'I am the confused one here though?'
Then she explained her reason.
"Is it not to your convenience? You just have to provide me with accurate insider information of class C, and you get to stay away from expulsion for this special exam. Moreover, if you prove to be useful, then maybe, I would save you in upcoming special exams as well."
Is she for real?
There's definitely something wrong here.
"That's not what I meant. What about the info on Ayanokouji and acting director Tsukishiro's secret connection? If it were to spread, then you have to say goodbye to your match with Ayanokouji, no?" I said in a bit sarcastic way.
The only student in this school who knows about Ayanokouji's past, except me, is Sakayanagi.
If I, somehow, spread that information, the first one Ayanokouji would doubt would definitely be her.
And, in a conversation between both of them, in volume 10 of year 1, Ayanokouji said that he would not engage in any match with Sakayanagi, if his secret is found out.
In other words, that was the bargaining chip I had for making a deal with Sakayanagi by providing her an opportunity to have a serious match with him without revealing anyone's secrets.
Moreover, at first, she didn't even deny any of those data to be false or anything. That implies, she has accepted the fact that I know something about them.
However, if she is not mentioning anything about it, that means,.....
"Hmm...I don't think so, though. As long as Ayanokouji-kun is inside this school premises, I can have a match anytime. And I don't really care about whatever you spread or not. The proposal I mentioned above is the final one. And that's all. So do you agree or not?" She said quite confidently.
Thinking about it rationally, even if I reveal Ayanokouji's secrets right now, it would not benefit me. What Sakayanagi said is actually true.
They can have their match anytime, anywhere inside this school, if Sakayanagi threatens Ayanokouji with expulsion somehow.
In the end, I would be the one to be screwed.
Then, should I accept the deal?
This proposal is quite beneficial for me as she said.
Not only am I being protected, if class C wins, I would get huge amount of private points.
In that sense, I should just accept this deal.
.
.
.
Heh.
Just kidding.
Why the hell should I believe any word coming out of this loli's mouth?
In case, she betrays me, even if I show the teachers our contract, there is no guarantee that my expulsion would be reverted.
Actually, this proposal is just dumbshit, which, the original Yamauchi might have accepted.
Then, in my opinion, Sakayanagi is probably thinking that I am being controlled by someone else, and she wants to smoke out them by making this proposal as bait.
...
After thinking about this for another few seconds, I came to find another aspect to my own predicament.
"Alright. I accept your proposal." With that, I announced my affirmation.
It would not hurt to go along with her little games for now. If I refuse, then she might try to pull something tricky behind my back.
"Is that so? That is a wise decision you made Yamauchi-kun." She said with a smile on her face.
"Haha. Quit with the flattery." I said sarcastically.
Honestly, I am 200% sure that she would break this deal.
So, let's see how this plays out.
I have to make some other plans too, with other students in mind.
"Then, do you need a physical copy of the contract?" Breaking my line of thought, Sakayanagi dropped the most important matter of this deal.
"That's a good question. Well, keeping aside the fact that you have been recording our conversation from start to finish, it would be better to keep a physical contract just in case. " It was obvious that she was recording our convo.
Well, I was also recording it, just in case.
"Fufu. Well then, that's settled. And about an eyewitness..." She stopped for a second.
Eyewitness huh?
"Don't worry about that. I have someone in mind for that. I would message you after contacting them. So, I would leave the contract writing part to you." I replied her.
Sakayanagi nodded, seemingly satisfied with my response. "Very well, Yamauchi-kun. I shall await your message then. It has been a pleasure as always."
"See you then," I called after her, keeping my tone light.
She paused, turning her head slightly.
"Indeed, Yamauchi-kun. Do take care." With that, she walked away, her cane tapping rhythmically against the floor.
I watched her leave, and made my way towards class C.
There was still a few minutes left for homeroom classes to begin.
Students were still moving around the classes.
As soon as I entered the class, all the eyes fell on me.
Well, it was expected to happen.
I just ignored them and took my seat in front of Ike.
He was chatting amicably with Sudo, and didn't bother to look towards me.
The class atmosphere was still a little bit stiff. Nothing has changed from yesterday.
Hirata is still down in the dumps. Haruka is absent.
As I thought about the upcoming events, there was a tinge of excitement welling up within me to see what type of expression would these teenagers make after witnessing them.
And suddenly, I was reminded of the dream I had last night.
Two people named Ichinose and Kanzaki were talking about this light novel series passionately in front of my immobile body.
I have already settled into the role of Yamauchi Haruki, and have accepted this world as my new home.
That's why, the things that happened last night, I have to discard them as mere illusions.
With that being said, Chabashira entered our class, and homeroom started.
And, I decided on my next task.
"Let's visit the drugs' store after classes." I though to myself.
