Chapter 11 - GOODBYES AND HELLOS

Eliza's Pov

"Bye Nick, you'd always be my baby brother " I whispered as I hugged him one more time, he laughed at the joke.

"It's just fifteen seconds. You know you really don't have to go, I can protect you from the dirty claws of Alfred." He said and I wanted to do that.

"I remember how a certain ambush plan of yours played out and it definitely wasn't in your favor." I laughed and he didn't even bother to force a laugh, it was always a chore to get him to pretend to be cool with something he wasn't cool with. "I don't want to have to force him to treat me right or have my twin brother beat him up. It's below me"

"Hope you know leaving NYC is also a little bit of a cowardly move." He reminded me and I shrugged.

"It's the better kind of cowardice. Listen Nick, I will be fine."

"Your baby is nearly five months old. I am flying over to Chicago when it's eight months in. I will miss you sissy," he said and drew me into his arms.

"I will miss you too, byee" I said quickly as I heard the announcer.

"Good bye Liza," he whispered in my ears has he finally released me from his grasps.

I walked away, pushing away at the brimming tears threatening to fall. This was way more difficult than I have ever allowed myself to imagine.

I stood at the airport and it was like my life was flashing before my eyes. My luggage was clenched tightly in my hands and my fears were tempting me to return home, abort the baby and beg Lincoln to let me work for him again with the same terms.

That was the life I liked, the life I was secure in but I knew it was just me settling for less.

I was tired of settling, I was tired of looking at Lincoln and knowing he couldn't give me anything more than great got sex and making me feel sexy.

"A ticket just for me," I said to the attendant and she smiled nicely at me.

"Traveling alone?" She asked and I nodded pleasantly.

"Girls time alone?" She asked again and my smile spread, that she was determined to live. My mood was very kind so I indulged her.

"I wish it was, this is more like I'm running from my problems. I wonder when the plane takes off," I answered her and she raised an amused brow.

"We can never run from our problems. The plane takes off in five minutes" she responded patiently and I nodded as I collected the ticket from her. I mouthed thank you and she called back to me.

"And yeah, congratulations" she called out to me and winked, I blushed and hurried off.

So it was that obvious? Thank God I hadn't let Lincoln see me, he would have freaked out and would surely hate me for a long time.

I passed the screening point and was finally settled in the plane. I slept through most of it and when I did finally wake up. We were landing.

"Fasten your seat belts, the plane is landing in three minutes." The announcer called and I was hit with last minute realization, I have left, I have left my old life and this is cheers to my new life.

I clasped my seat belt and closed my eyes tightly, if I believed in a God I would have prayed to him now but our mum was not around long enough to teach us faith.

'Be a good girl and kiss me'

'I want you,' I whispered and he lifted me up, placing me on our favorite desk to have sex.

'Just a little more,' he murmured as his mouth trailed down my breast, I moaned.

'Don't leave me…' I whispered and a ray of light poured in.

"Miss, the plane has landed, you can alight now." The aircraft attendant said to me and I was jolted from my mini nap. I had slept and even fantasized.

"What?" I asked dumbly and she looked at me oddly.

"You're here! Welcome to Chicago!" She announced brightly and I knew she didn't know but that kind gesture brought great joy to my heart.

"Thank you," I whispered and quickly picked up my luggage. The plane was empty and I was all alone.

I needed an Uber and a strong vodka but Doctor Steven had said I didn't need to take any alcohol with this baby.

My instincts was to run back on the plane and return to New York but it was my instinct that had driven me to this point so I was definitely not following it this time around.

"Excuse me, I'm going to White House!" I called out the taxi man, my Uber just bailed and I needed an alternative.

" That'll be 20 bucks ma'am" he responded, hitting break and waiting for me in the pouring rain.

"20 bucks? That's very expensive how much for an Uber to the same location?" I challenged him, knowing that I have to be on a budget for as long as I can.

The money I had gotten from working with Lincoln could only get me as far as I wanted from him. He had made sure he provided what i wanted without actually giving me money because he was scared I was going to run off.

Now that I have, he had no idea about it!

"Are you just going to question me or are you going to come in the rain is pouring harder and the child will be cold!" He yelled and I cringed, how did he know I was carrying a child?

"Is everybody this weird in over here?" I asked him as I settled in the back seat, it was bit ironic because I was coming from New York.

She read the faint sign. 'Hello Chicago'

He smiled pleasantly at me as he sped off.

"Welcome to Chicago!"
