Chapter 96 - Chapter 96

The next day, leaving the hospital, I sighed sadly. I couldn't manage to take a few months off. Remembering the heated argument I had just lost a couple of minutes ago, I felt like spitting. The hospital director reluctantly granted me two weeks of rest, only under the threat of my resignation, and relieved me of one shift per week, reducing them to four.

The reason for such inflexibility was the imminent arrival of convoys of heavily wounded from the front - our forces had increased pressure on Iwa and began pushing their main forces back to the original borders of the Land of Stone. Hence the quite serious losses with a bunch of wounded.

So there will soon be even more work in the hospital, and losing even one iryo-nin of my level and abilities will seriously affect efficiency. And it was stupid to send all the good medics to field hospitals!

So, they sent all the combat iryo-nin to the front, and they also had to take away so many regular ones! The only consolation is that without a shinobi bandage, the Hokage cannot command the other medics, including me. There aren't many of them, but they exist.

With a grimace, I angrily kicked a stone that happened to be on the road and trudged to the library behind the main hospital building - I doubt that I'll be able to figure out Chikatsu Saisei no Jutsu in just a couple of weeks, but it's worth digging around. Apparently, I'll have to ask Mito for help, as she understands seals better, especially those related to chakra storage. Maybe I'll learn something new from her myself.

Showing my iryo-nin card to the guard at the entrance, I entered the building and headed to the general section of the library, located in the largest room. Well, I think a dozen Kage Bunshins should be enough.

I only returned home in the evening, tired as a dog and inhaling the dust of books for months to come. But the search was not in vain - one of the clones still found the necessary seal in a small scroll buried on the top shelf of the last examined cabinet.

Mostly, it stored various junk and outdated research. However, something else interesting was discovered, but more on that later. The sought-after seal was a joint work of the first Hokage and Mito Uzumaki before their marriage and was provided only to the public hospital as a gift from the Senju clan, judging by the faded inscription at the bottom of the rolled-up paper.

Given Hashirama's talent in medical sciences, it's easily believable. No wonder Tsunade knew about it - it's an inheritance, after all.

Pushing the entrance door, I entered the house.

"Ma, I'm home!" announcing my arrival, I kicked off my sandals in the hallway and was slightly puzzled by the lack of response.

In the morning, I left two clones at home - one for the kitchen and the other to take care of Saya - and someone should have answered me. But for now, the sound only came from the closed kitchen door. Entering the living room, I didn't immediately notice "myself" sitting on the couch, as red as a lobster, with a blissful smile and staring into space with a vacant look.

"Hey, dude, what's up?" waving my hand in front of his face yielded nothing, as did shaking him by the shoulder.

What the hell? For a few moments, I debated whether to dispel him, but I had to abandon this idea - maybe I'll also end up in such a state. Shrugging, I opened the door to the kitchen and, after observing the clone frying vegetables at the stove for a moment, caught his attention.

"What happened with him while I was away?" I asked him, poking a finger behind me.

"Um... I have an idea, but it's better for you to find out yourself," shrugged the twin with a slight blush on his cheeks, but then added, "just don't dispel him before I finish cooking dinner, or you'll stay hungry!"

I don't understand anything! Alright, I'll go talk to ma.

"Ka-chan, I'm back!" I found her in bed, with a pile of pillows behind her back, reading a book.

"Oh, hi Ryo-kun, how was your day?" Ma smiled.

"Boring, long, and tough, but I found the necessary seal, so all that's left is to modify it for our needs and capabilities," I sighed, sitting down next to the bed, "but I only managed to get two weeks off."

"Why?"

"Big losses, there should be a lot of wounded coming from the front," I told her, "so they successfully screwed me over, though they did take away one shift due to circumstances and added extra pay."

"They added?" Ma was surprised.

"Yeah, considering my Kage Bunshins, I work for at least two people during the influx of a large number of patients," I shrugged and changed the subject, "but enough about me, what about your day?"

"Oh, just... nothing special," this time Saya shrugged and looked down at her hands.
