From the hospital, I retrieved Saya after two days, not earlier as I had hoped - the clan head signed the papers only after a full personal examination and confirmation of the diagnosis. Alas, but family ties played a negative role here, unlike in ordinary cases.
After dressing Ma in the set of clothes brought from home - and for the first time in my life truly resembling a tomato due to having to help with everything, including underwear - I picked her up and carefully leaped across the rooftops, arriving at the gates of the clan quarter in twenty-something minutes.
The bed at home was already prepared, as well as her favorite pajamas, so all I had to do was take Ma to the bedroom.
"Alright, Ka-chan, we're going to try something unusual now, but potentially helpful," I said, settling her in more comfortably, proceeding with the task, paying no attention to the embarrassment on both our parts - the roles had changed, and now I was acting as the elder.
"What are you talking about?"
"Before we start, promise me you'll do everything I ask, no matter how absurd the idea," I requested.
Saya stared at me in confusion but nodded nonetheless.
"Okay."
Rolling up the sleeve on my left arm, I presented it forward.
"Bite, and don't worry - I showered this morning."
"What? Why?" - the look of surprise and bewilderment directed at me clearly indicated doubts about my mental health.
"Someone promised obedience," I reminded.
"Eh, okay," after some hesitation, she shrugged and this time bit properly on the inner side of my arm.
"And?" I asked, after she withdrew, leaving barely noticeable tooth marks.
"Well, who bites like that?" I responded irritably. "Bite deeper, draw blood, and take at least a few gulps."
"Ryo, are you okay...?" - the unspoken "in the head" didn't need to be said.
"Yes! I'm perfectly fine, and now do as I said," I couldn't help exploding. "I'm the doctor here, so obey without objections! I'll explain later if it works!"
"As you say," Saya shrugged, and this time she bit as instructed.
Ignoring the pain, I began converting chakra at the bite site into medical chakra, greatly pleased with my own foresight in enhancing control - otherwise, such a trick wouldn't have worked for me. With Ma latched onto the green-lit wound, she quietly moaned and began drinking the blood. Waves of convulsions occasionally ran through her body, interrupting her breathing, apparently from bliss. Given the pain-relieving effect of such chakra, there was nothing surprising about it. I waited a couple of minutes before carefully removing my arm. A tenth of my chakra reserve was gone, and I had lost about a glass of blood. Considering that the same volume was enough for a fully charged medical seal and there was still some left, this turned out to be a very costly treatment method.
"So, how do you feel?" I inquired of Ma, who was trying to catch her breath.
"I hardly feel any pain! What was that?" Saya leaned back on the pillow, marveling at her right hand and even poking it with her fingers a couple of times. "Amazing, just a moment ago, I could barely move it, and it hurt so much! Now the hand obeys as if it were never broken!"
"Well, this is one of the uses of the Uzumaki kekkei genkai, designed for healing," I explained, examining the bite mark, which had already closed but left behind a few small scars from the teeth.
Odd, they should have disappeared, especially with the assistance of medical chakra. Covering the bite with my palm, I removed the scars, somewhat struggling to restore the integrity of the skin - that particular area actively resisted any change. I wonder what caused this effect? Usually, all received scars disappeared over time, leaving no trace, even if I didn't make any effort to remove them.
"Alright, now it's time for an examination," I announced, after finishing with the arm.
I didn't take long, only about ten minutes, but the results turned out to be good.
"In general, all minor cracks in the ribs have healed, the bones I fused have strengthened enough for you to bear weight on the injured arm without fear, the minor bruises I missed have also dissipated, and the deformed small muscles have recovered, the organs are functioning much better," I informed Ma, "even some damage to the spine at the site of the first fracture has significantly decreased, the same can be said for the spinal cord."
"Wow! What a useful method!"
