I stare into the sky, mesmerized by the countless bright stars, and the three moons that shone bright in the starry night sky. Each of the three moons were different colors, the one to the left had a hue of blue, the moon in the center was a light reddish color, and last but not least, the moon to the right was white, with a yellowish hue which made it seem like the moon on earth.
I stared as the moon's one by one disappeared into the horizon, and as the sun started to rise above the trees. My eyes had not gotten rest since the moment I got here, afraid of any attacks from the countless creatures that roamed this forest.
Throwing dirt onto the blazing fire, I put it out, I grabbed my sword, putting it back onto my belt. Now the only problem was the blanket.
"Now, what to do with this fur?" I ask myself, I look at the little pouch "What was the point in giving me this useless pouch if nothing fits in it?" I say in a tone of annoyance.
I grab the pouch, and open it, hoping to see if the being at least put some item in there. As I stared into the pouch, I saw nothing but an endless void. As dark as the cosmos, void of any star's to shine light upon it. It was mesmerizing, I reached into it, sticking my entire arm in it, yet the pouch didn't even get larger than its original size.
"Is this damn thing inlaid with space magic or something?" I say as I throw the fur blanket into the little pouch.
With the last of that, I look back at the little campsite I had created, seeing the beast's carcass laying there had given me a confidence boost, with that, I start journeying towards the water source.
On the way, I noticed some of the trees had produced fruit, none that I could recognize but it gave me an idea of what time of the year it was. As I look around, seeing all these fruits, I spot a monkey like creature no bigger than a toddler. It had dark brown fur, with long and slender arms. Its tail wrapped around the branch as it hung upside down. I noticed that in its hands was a fruit from one of the trees.
"That fruit must be fine for consumption" I say to myself. I scout out the trees looking for the same fruit, as I look around I spot the fruit.
The tree's trunk was thick, several times thicker than the trees surrounding it. As I approached the tree, I was amazed by its size, and aroma. It had a rather fruity scent that was masked by the scent of wood.
Vines, green as green could be, sways off of the tree branches, I clasp onto the vines, and climb like our ape ancestors. The fear of heights engulfs my mind as I get towards the middle of the vines. My body weakens, yet I hang on for dear life as I didn't want to end my second life due to falling off of a vine. Reaching the top, I looked down to see that I was more than 10 meters off the ground. My heart races, but I came up here for a reason, and I wasn't going to let some fear stop me.
I crawl across the branch, heading towards the fruits, inch by inch I get closer. As I reach the fruit, my hands start to sweat, and my grip starts to loosen. I quickly dry my hands off with my clothes before reaching out towards the plentiful amounts of fruits. I put each of them into my pouch for later consumption.
After getting back down from the tree I continue my journey. I notice that the closer I get to the river, the more animals I seem to spot. In the beginning the only animals I came across were the sabertooth like beast, and the monkey like creature, yet now I spot small animals like rabbits with horns, and even a deer like creature, and more frequently at that too.
After a day and a half of traveling, I could finally see the clear waters of the river, with many fish swimming within the waters. There seemed to be many different species of fish within these waters, yet they all were similar to the fish on Earth. I also saw myself in the reflections of the waters, I couldn't recognize who I was, my whole appearance changed. I had black hair that reached my eyes, and a slim face with no scars or trauma from battle.
As I look at the water, a body impaled by a sword passes by, leaving a trail of bloody water. The body seems to be fresh, and in the distance I could hear the shouting of countless men, sounds I had heard in the battle fields of Earth, the cries of my brothers in arms as they were shot. Shouts of despair rang through the air, and soon after, some more bodies floated downstream.
I hurriedly run upstream, hoping I'm not too late to help the only sign of civilization I encountered. I reach a clearing In the forest, and as I peek to see what could have caused the death of those men, I see a group of green humanoid creatures, with large tusks, each wielding a large ax or a sword, and a group of humans, dressed in armor, looking at it, the humanoid creatures were giants compared to the humans.
I quickly cast a few fireball spells towards those horrid creatures, I had just learned this skill the night before when I wasn't able to catch a wince of sleep after lighting up the campfire. As the fireballs head towards the creatures, they all look in my direction with fear in their eyes. I quickly jump out of hiding pulling out my sword incase of any monsters I missed.
"Are you a wizard?" A knight questions me
"I'm not much of a wizard, I just started to learn about mana" I told him as I sheath my sword.
"What!?" He shouts in a shocked manner
"What is it?" I ask as I look around, I had thought some monsters were appearing with how loud he shouted.
"No, it's nothing, you're rather skilled for a beginner" He says, quickly adding on "even being able to use mana is quite rare, a one in a thousand chance, and even being able to perform such skills takes a few years of training." He says.
I was thinking that these traits were quite weak, yet I had no idea it could be this powerful without proper training. The concept of mana itself is unordinary as I think about it, a liquid-like substance in your body that acts as a medium to cast spells.
I stop myself from overthinking, and get straight to the point.
"Where are we right now?" I ask the knight
"Do you really not know? This is the Vermin Forest, a forest filled with monsters lurking throughout it." He answers, then adds "Why might you be here?"
"I was" I stop myself, should I tell him about how I met the being and how im not from this world?
"You were?" He questions
"I was a traveler, I had a group with me but they all were wiped out by this fanged beast" I made up a lie, since telling him the truth could possibly cause me unnecessary trouble.
"A fanged beast? Did it have long black fur as well?" He asks as if he knew exactly what I was talking about.
"Yes, it had snuck up behind us and launched a sneak attack" I tell him, this wasn't a complete lie since it did sneak up on me.
"That beast is called a Smilis Fatalis, one of the more stealthier beasts of this forest" He says, "May your comrades rest in peace"
The knight takes off his helmet in order to show his respect to my made up comrades, before introducing himself.
"Sorry for not introducing myself earlier, Im Galahad of Schiet" He says as he performs a little bow inorder to show his respect.
"Im Lexter Von Grey, you can just call me Lex" I told him before noticing that my vision was getting blurred, and my legs were starting to give out.
After a few seconds of trying to stay up, I collapsed to the ground and I could hear Galahad and his knights rushing towards me. And a few seconds later, my vision had blackened. Leaving me vulnerable to attacks from anywhere.
