The second beast, driven mad by rage and hunger, lunged forward, its powerful jaws snapping at Haze's throat.
Haze brought his sword up with a desperate thrust and pierced the beast's throat.
The beast let out a howl of agony as it fell to the ground and trashed violently one last time.
Then it's stopped moving.
Haze mopped up his sweaty brows and looked at the last two scorpions.
They watched him with furious eyes but there was another emotion they radiated, caution.
The scorpions had just watched him kill one scorpion, not long after, they watched him kill another two while fighting them at the same time.
Clearly he was not some ordinary being and they had to be careful with him.
The creatures looked down at the lifeless bodies of the other scorpions. They had a decision to make, run away now and come back later to eat the flesh of the fallen scorpions or proceed with the fight in hopes of eating fresh meet.
