I reached a little bit early, in case James needed any help, but that boy was set to go.
After a while, lots of people came – some in groups, some in duos, and some alone. I waited patiently for her, but she was not there yet. I mean, she will be here soon, right?
The clock kept ticking, and I stood by the door, waiting for it. My hopes kept dying every time the clock ticked.
My hopes got up whenever someone passed by.
"Oh girl, you are a hopeless romantic. Come on in and enjoy the party," said James.
"No thank you. I am determined to stay here and wait," I replied.
"Up to you, girl," and James left...
It had been 1 hour, and I was still waiting. I thought she was never going to come. A car honked; I looked in its direction, nothing unusual, just a car. The car door opened, and there she was, wearing a sleeveless romper dress, in baby pink color, with a black cardigan on top. She walked towards me.
"I am so sorry, I got lost," she said. Only if she knew how badly I wanted to hug her right now.
"That's fine. I mean, I just came out for fresh air," I replied. We are not in that kind of relationship, and I should tell her that. For how long I was waiting for her, I kept it cool, and we went into the house. I took her to my friend group; they were all in the kitchen eating pizza while dancing. The music was too loud in other areas, so I guess this is why they are in the kitchen, including James.
"Hey everyone, meet Olivia," I said, as all of them dropped their pizzas and their mouths hung open.
"What is wrong with y'all? You be acting like y'all saw a ghost," I joked.
"Technically speaking, yeah, we did see a ghost. Never expected her to show up at a party and wear that too," said Amelia. I told you before she is kind of, I mean, she speaks without a filter.
"Liv, this is Amelia. She is very honest and speaks without a filter," I pointed to Amelia, who was standing at the corner of the table, wearing a black tank top and a sheer net top on top of it, with a pleated denim skirt.
"Hey there, Amelia," said Liv in the softest voice.
"Omg, her voice is so soft," said Lia.
"Liv, this is Lia," I introduced.
"Hey, Lia," said Liv, fixing her glasses.
"And I am James. I am the one hosting this party. Nice to meet you," James spoke before me.
"Nice to meet you too, James."
"And last but not least, this is Jeremy. We have been through the same middle school to high school."
"Hi, Jeremy," she said with a little wave. I couldn't help but smile.
"Hey, Olivia, do you remember me?" Jeremy asked, and I rolled my eyes because I knew where this was going.
"No, sorry I don't recall."
"Of course, you don't remember, because you were too busy staring at Alex."
"Omg, Jeremy, shut up," Liv was getting red.
"Guys, let's play games. I am getting kind of sleepy," said Lia, before yawning.
"Yeah, who appointed Mike as DJ? He sucks," said Amelia. Mike is our classmate; he used to be good at DJ throughout our first year, but now he sucks a lot. Maybe it has something to do with his breakup; he keeps playing sad songs.
"Come on, Liv, let's play," I said to Liv, and she nodded in agreement. James led us to the master bedroom so that we could sit and play on the floor. Amelia grabbed a glass bottle and followed at the last.
"Okay, since Olivia is playing with us for the first time, let's explain the rules. So Olivia, remember you can never ask personal questions about anyone from the group. For example, I am asking Amelia what she thinks about Lia, so you can't do this, since it might get serious. This game might go too far. For example, Alex picked dare, so I dared her to go and flash a stranger," said James.
"Hey you bastard, picking me was personal," I snapped at him.
"I think it was last year when you were dared to do that," said James.
"Oh, please don't remind me of that, or else I will remind you of how you accidentally flashed everyone in the classroom," everyone started laughing.
"Anyways, these are pretty much the rules. Try not to break them," James said, and Amelia pinned the bottle. It landed on Jeremy.
"Jeremy, truth or dare?" asked Amelia.
"Well, I am feeling brave, so dare," said Jeremy, and Amelia smirked.
"Go to the living room, where everyone is partying. Go there butt-naked and yell, 'Who wants some cheeks?' loudly, or kiss James."
"Hey, why did you drag me into this?" James protested while Amelia laughed menacingly.
"Well, I ain't going down butt-naked, so I guess I will have to kiss you," Jeremy said and leaned in. James just couldn't believe this. But they agreed. I could tell these two have great chemistry. Jeremy spun the bottle, and it landed on Lia.
"Lia, truth or dare?" Lia is a scaredy-cat most of the time, so she picked the truth.
"When was the last time you peed in the swimming pool?" asked Jeremy, and James pulled out the lie detector machine.
"Umm... like two weeks ago? It was an accident, by the way!" she yelled the last part.
"Well, she is saying the truth," said James. Lia sighed in relief. Lia spun the bottle, and it landed on me.
"Well, truth or dare, Alex?" she asked me, smirking as if she knew I was picking a dare to show off to Liv.
"Dare," I said and smirked back.
"Well, I dare you to have 7 minutes in heaven with..."
