"You bastard! You never should have brought me here!"
Jace tightened his grip on my hair and threw me to the floor.
"The inheritance of the Ice witch has been searched for many times. What makes you think you're going to find it. You brought our squad to the cathe mountains, filled with magic beasts, during a blizzard. You risked all of our lives because of the contents of a scroll bought from a market."
I knew it was true, but I didn't care. The Inheritance was the only chance I had to become stronger.
The truth was, although it was the rarest, and the strongest, the Ice affinity was considered to be the worst. It was far to powerful to be controlled, whether it was with sorcery or martial arts. Not to mention the amount of Ki it took to use.
The only people who had ever reached anywhere near the pinnacle of the martial world with an Ice Affinity were the Frost Knight who had the Heavenly Martial Body and the Ice Witch who had a Divine Eye. They had both been born with talent and a blessed body. Both perfectly suited for martial arts or sorcery.
They had both disappeared one night hundreds of years ago and it is assumed they fought each other for the title of the strongest with the Ice Affinity and died trying. They both died without passing on any details about the Ice Affinity.
I had come to the Ice witches temple, like many others, in search of any of her writings, hoping to become more powerful.
I looked at Jace before looking back at my hands, which were now almost completely frozen. I knew I should feel remorse for my fallen comrades. That would be normal. Although, the Demon Sect was anything but normal.
"You were so special, so talented, so handsome. You had everything. Until they finally figured out who you really were. Talentless."
'More like cursed'
I was kidnapped from my family by the Demon Sect after they were robbed and killed.
I was made an outer disciple and forced to live in hell. Me and more than 100 other children trained non-stop and were forced to kill each other to live. For 6 year I lived like that until I was sponsored by a higher up of the sect because of my talent with martial arts. I was taken from hell, to be trained as a inner disciple. I had always known people were jealous because of that, especially Jace.
But in the end, when they found out my attribute, I was thrown away. I was sent to the countryside to lead a squad of outer disciples in unorthodox territory. After two years of leading the squad, I found the scroll with information about a possible inheritance deep underneath the Ice Temple, where no one has thought to search. It was the only chance I had to escape the Demon Sect and grow stronger.
Now, here we are.
I tried to stand up using the wall. I wasn't going to let go of my chance to become strong.
"Your injured. Your not going to get anywhere even if I let you go. Give up. Accept that I'm better than you."
Jace walked closer to me as he said it. I wasn't going to let him get close. I picked up my sword and aimed it at him.
I wasn't very threatening in this state but it stopped him.
"Your pathetic. That's what this is about. You needed to prove you were better. Hah, I can't help but laugh."
I said, trying not to collapse. I was loosing consciousness. I couldn't hold on much longer.
"I'm not! The elder never should have sponsored you. I was strong too. And I was born with a better affinity!"
Fire sprouted from his feet as he launched towards me, sword in hand.
I tried move out of the way so he just grased my hip, but I fell to the floor. He quickly turned and jumped. Seemingly aiming to bring his sword down on me.
I rolled over and he stabbed the ground next to me. Before he could turn to finish me off, the ground around him cracked and he fell through. The hole in the ground only grew and I started to fall. Before falling who knows how far down I grabbed the edge of the hole. Looking down all I could see was darkness.
'I can't hold on! Maybe it's for the best. Anything's better than going back.'
I let go, ready to die.
A loud thud echoed in the darkness of the hole. Everything hurt. Everything, and yet I couldn't feel anything at all.
'I'm not dead. Why aren't I dead.'
I wasn't dead but I could soon feel myself fading away.
'Finally, I can be free of the Demon Sect's tyranny.'
As darkness, even darker and than the darkness of the hole closed in, I let go. Let go of any dreams or hopes I had of getting out. It didn't even upset me anymore. I was ready to die.
[beep beep beep]
'Beep? What is this?'
Although still completely dark, a shining blue screen appeared in front of my eyes.
