Chapter 6 - Chapter Six (Part II)

At this moment, I felt someone watching me, possibly from about 45 degrees to my right. I pretended to casually glance in that direction and saw a woman of artificial beauty, with exaggerated long eyelashes, vibrant lips, ample bosom, and shapely legs, enough to quicken my breath. Though I knew those eyelashes were fake, the bosom might not be real, the lip color somewhat tacky, and the legs' skin might not be flawless, I still appreciated her beauty. Any woman who could compose such allure was captivating to me. Men are like that, there are no faithful men in the world, only those who lack the ability to be unfaithful. Though I knew that Ran Jing had already occupied an important place in my heart, I could still spare some room for other women until she solidified her place in my heart.

Things surprisingly went smoothly, perhaps because of my relatively handsome appearance today or because the group of guys I came with piqued her interest. An hour later, the woman and I left together for my place. One-night stands were something deeply opposed by men like me, who had received a traditional education, as it could undermine our confidence in women, making us see almost any beautiful woman as promiscuous. However, when faced with it myself for the first time, I didn't object.

As the elevator ascended slowly, my heart began to sink, torn between conflicting thoughts. The primal temptation gradually overcame my remaining moral principles...

"Ding!" I thought the elevator had reached its destination. Out of habit, I glanced at the floor indicator—15. Only then did I realize that my hand had somehow pressed the button for the 15th floor, with the 17th floor brightly lit beside it.

"Sorry, you should go." I uttered these words, feeling scorned by that woman.

I wasn't sure if I lay on the bed feeling regret or gratitude. This world was too chaotic, and I was beginning to lose myself. I drifted off to sleep in a daze until the sound of the doorbell woke me up.
