Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Arlam Village and the Kids(Edited)

"Alright! Here goes nothing!"I exclaimed before calling out my system.

Ignoring the window that showed the functions of my sub and main system, I instead focused my attention on a singular button with a planet symbol and tapped it with my finger.

The button opened another window that looked rather plain as it only contained a search bar, along with a list of worlds that I'm sure I could enter.

I typed in the words "Re:Zero" which prompted the window to remove most of the list but one, so I tapped on it, which prompted the window to show the information about the world.

….

Safe Travels, God of Desire…

...

Before I knew it, I was standing on a forest path, surrounded by trees, donning a backpack filled with food that I got from the Seven-Eleven back in Korea and some other things, like tools and such.

I looked around, and except for one direction, all my eyes could see were trees everywhere.

I sighed in relief. "Thankfully, I wasn't shoved into the Witch Beast nest or in front of troublesome places like the cultist or the castles."

"Even so, It still begs the question… where am I?"

With no better Idea in my head, I decided to head to the village, which seemed rather familiar for some reason, but I just couldn't grasp why.

And While I walked, I opened up my system.

The host has arrived in the world on 26-3261-89.

Due to similarities between this world and the previous one, the system has decided that any major changes in your body are unnecessary…

In exchange, the host has received the passive skill: Spirit Affinity (S)

Giving the Host Relevant language pack.

Searching for a suitable Rider System…

Complete!

The Seiken Rider System and Wizardriver Rider System are the most compatible.

You may choose one of the two.

….

I, of course, without hesitation, chose the Seiken Rider System as it's superior to the latter.

…..

You have received the skill:

Seiken Temple Gate.

Seiken Temple Gate(?)

Active Skill

The user can open a gate that leads to the Seiken Temple, where one may obtain the 11 Seiken(Holy Swords) if one passes the test.

Once all 11 Seiken are active, they can be gathered back in the temple to create the Ultimate Seiken.

Active Seiken:N/A.

Note:Once the three Ancient Seiken(Ankokuken Kurayami, Mumeiken Kyomu, Kougouken Saikou) are active, the skill will evolve into ?????

Spirit Affinity(S)

Passive Skill

Spirits are greatly attracted to you. Your mere presence makes spirits happy, and friendly towards you.

Spirits are more willing to do what you ask of them.

Contracting with spirits is easier, and they will grow quicker in your presence.

"Hooh? Now that's interesting; It seems like I won't get all the Rider System easily every time I enter a new world… and this passive, Spirit Affinity."

"Great! Looks like it's gonna be easier to befriend Puck and Beatrice now" I grinned, as spirits can be really powerful in this world.

Suddenly, my eyes widened. "Oh shit! This skill will be useful in the Tensura world!"

Specifically, I can use this to help Shizuka to calm down Ifrit!

"Waaa~ Who knew I would obtain a skill that will be needed soon"

I looked at the other skill, which let me open a gate to some kind of temple where the Seiken were contained.

I guess I'll check it out later, once I find a place to sleep later at night.

And so, I decided to put that matter in the back of my head, for now, I gotta stay alert in case some ulgram gets a wift of me.

"Well, even if they did…"

I Pat the Amazon's Driver on my waist and smiled.

"They wouldn't be able to do a thing, after all, they are one of the weakest maWitch Beast"

It didn't take long for me to notice the green barrier stones, which meant I was now safe from any gram, assuming that this was, in fact, the village near the Mathers Manor.

Still, I did not take off the driver; better safe than sorry, especially since I still had no idea what time I was in.

It didn't take long for me to arrive in the lovely village, and of course, it also didn't take long for the residents to notice me.

A group of young men who seemed to be only a few years older than me approached my way.

"Excuse me for being rude, but, What's the purpose of your visit to this village?"

Ah, It seems that they're suspicious of me…well, I did arrive here alone, without any company and even any sort of transportation so of course they're bound to be suspicious.

But one thing for certain, though: It seems that I had arrived in Arlam Village, the village part of the Mathers domain.

I internally sighed in relief before looking at the very familiar man, the guy who gave Subaru a sword when he was attempting to rescue Rem.

"Ah! My apologies for looking quite suspicious. I am a nomad who is looking for someplace to settle down, and It seems that the spirits have led me to this village." I raised my hand to show that I did not mean any harm.

"I know it's quite suspicious for me to arrive without any transportation or company, seeing how dangerous these lands are, but I can protect myself quite well, so I don't need any company or a mount for that matter."

"Afterall, It would be a waste to just travel without appreciating the nature I pass by"

My words seemed to make some of them confused, but nonetheless, they dropped their guard down somewhat.

But the leader, the man with the red bandana on his neck, seemed to not be fully convinced as he still hadn't sheathed his sword back.

At this time, a lot of villagers seemed to notice the commotion, as they gathered to see what was happening.

I just smiled and waved at them, trying my best to show that I meant no harm.

At this time, an old lady who came from the audience walked in front, she had her hands on her back, wearing a plain red dress with a cloth tied around her back.

"Now boys, no need to panic and be on guard that, this young man doesn't hold any malice at all…and, I'm sure that spirits won't gather in a flock around this young man if he's evil" The elderly, who has her eyes closed and seemed to have a rather high standing in the village voiced, before she opened her eyes, revealing two clear blue iris.

Hearing her words, the rest of the village watching cleared out, while the group of young men sighed, in relief before they also headed away, most likely going back to their patrol.

Only me and the elderly were left, and she even started to walk back towards the inner part of the village, beckoning me to follow as she walked.

"Now, young man you don't need to worry about them anymore, Welcome to Arlam Village"

I stopped briefly and lowered my head gratefully.

"Thank you for accepting me ma'am, and I apologize for any trouble and commotion I have caused"

"Hoho~ you need not apologize, young man, I'm sure everyone would appreciate your presence in this village, after all, it seems like you have received some kind of divine protection related to the spirits"

Her words surprised me before I realized what she meant.

"Haha, it seems like this village isn't your typical normal one. May I know your name, ma'am?"

The elderly chuckled and replied, "No need to be so formal on an old lady-like me, child. My name is Milde Arlam, how about you, child?"

My eyes widened in realization after hearing her name, so I looked at her and voiced. "Arlam? As In the name of the village?"

Her reply was merely a chuckle as she nonchalantly voiced "You would be correct child, although you need not worry about me, you can just call me Granny Mil"

"...alright" I nodded, planning to follow her wishes.

"This humble village is part of the Mathers' Domain and has been led by lord Roswaal since even before I was born…

The village is fairly quiet and peaceful, so it's perfect for oldies to retire, although there is the glaring danger of the forest being an Ulgram Breeding grounds, thanks to the lord's generosity of putting barrier stones all around the perimeter of the village, the village never had any trouble with them"

"Although, I and most the villagers are rather worried at this time of the year as the ulgram wasn't taken care by the lord for quite some time now"

I nodded solemnly, and after thinking about it thoroughly, I concluded that Roswaal had purposely left the Ulgram nest for Subaru, meaning that the plot was almost or already started.

'Speaking of it, I wonder how Subaru's RBD will work now or how it will affect me since I am a singularity, after all.'(read back to chapter 2 or 3 for Info)

"I see. Did the lord go somewhere, perhaps? After all, I find it hard to believe that he- or any lord for that matter will ignore their village's safety willingly"

But, before I could receive any answer from the elder, we were interrupted by a group of children exclaiming as they ran towards the elder and me.

"Ahhh!~ It's the big brother from before!"One of the children, a child with long and spiky brown hair that's tied, voiced. He's wearing a Beige color shirt with a red bandana around his neck.

He's followed by 6 other children, 3 boys and girls, but my eyes narrowed at one of the girls, recognizing her as the girl that commands the ulgram.

But my actions were only brief before my face returned to normal as I waved at the approaching children with a smile on my face.

"You can call me Jin, I'm a traveler who's planning on settling down somewhere, It's nice to meet you guys and gals"

The children greeted me, while also introducing themselves.

Lucas, Petra, Dine, Cain, Meina, Mild, and Meili are pretty neat names.

Mild seems to be the shy type, and while Meili looks to be a shy one as well, I know who she is, so I didn't mind her.

Lucas and Petra seem to be the leader of the group, while the rest are very lively children as well.

THEY ARE REALLY LIVELY and friendly, as they dragged me around the village to play despite me being a total stranger, leaving behind the elder, who, upon looking back at her, I noticed that she seemed to be smiling gently as she nodded.

I nodded back at her wryly before I looked back at the children around me.

"So?~ what do you guys want this big brother to do? As long as I can do it, then I'll grant anything that you want as a meeting gift!"

One of the children, Dine, raised his hands, so I looked at him and asked, "Yes, Dine-kun? You want to go first?"

"Yes! Do something cool Big Bro!" He voiced, and the rest of the children supported his request.

"Hooh? Cool, cool….hmm, alright! But I need some materials first!"

""Materials?""The children questioned.

…..

Minutes later, I sat in front of a wooden table, random-sized wood placed on one side of the table, while I held my carving knife in my hand.

After thinking it through, I decided to showcase my Carving skills, as the other ideas inside my head are rather extreme for the children, and they might get hurt should they decide to imitate me. Knowing children, they will most definitely imitate what I do as children are so easily influenced.

So, I decided to showcase my craft instead!

I put my bag down beside me, retrieving the carving tools that I retrieved from my small sanctuary (The small world I was trapped in before), and put it down on the table.

Some of the free-er villagers, along with the kids, had gathered around, curiously observing what I was gonna do.

I nodded, satisfied by my current setup, and looked back towards Dine and asked

"So, Dine-kun, what do you want Big Brother to carve? Animals, Weapons, or even people, you name it, I'll carve it for you, though if you want me to carve a person, I'm gonna need them to be here"

""Carve? /What's that?" The children wondered, which led me to hit my forehead as I was reminded that they were, in fact, just children.

"Basically, I can make a wooden statue or item, whatever you want, so you can choose whether to ask me to make you a sword, make a statue of someone special to you, or make an animal! Although for weapons and animals, I get to choose what to carve."

"Ooh!!" Dine exclaimed before he closed his eyes, seemingly thinking of what to ask, before he opened his eyes, turning his head towards his brother Kain and nodding with resolve.

"Alright! Big Bro! Can you carve me and Kain!"

His words took the villagers and the rest of the kids back before the villagers smiled at him gently.

I also smiled at this before nodding.

"Alrighty then, Kain, Dine, why don't you two come over here?"

Kain, despite still being taken aback, followed my words, much less the requester himself.

"Now, why don't you two put one of your arms around the other's shoulder"

The two kids followed along, and not long after, they were in the exact position that I wanted them to be and smiled.

"Okay then, the last step! Smile you two!"

The two once again followed my Instructions, smiling as they looked at each other before looking back at me.

"Alright! That's it! You two can let go of each other now!"I voiced before I sat back in the wooden chair, picking up a moderately sized wooden block.

I took a deep breath before I picked up my carving knife and began.

….

The carving didn't take long to finish, despite it being a bit hard as I was sculpting the two children. However, due to my experience of carving non-stop in my Sanctuary when I was trapped, it was simply easy for me, especially since the sculpture is only a small one.

Opposed to the bigger or the very detailed ones I used to make.

I finished the sculpture by carving both of the brother's names underneath the stand of the sculpture.

Ultimately, it only took me 10 or so minutes or even less to complete that sculpture, much to the villagers' amazement, which they showed by clapping.

"There! Finished! Unfortunately, I don't have any Varnish, so I could only use sandpaper." I handed the statue to Dine, standing beside his brother Kain. The two looked happy and amazed as Dine received the statue of the two of them.

I ruffled both of their hair and smiled.

"Be sure to treasure and take care of each other, you two, I'm sure you two and your friends will do great things once you grow up. But for now, play to your heart's content as you only have one chance to experience your childhood"

The two teared up from my words, and replied, "Yes!/ We Will!"

I smiled at them gently once more before looking back and noticed that some of the villagers had also teared up, making me smile wryly before I looked down towards the rest of the children.

"So? Who's next?"
