Eldoria empire was first discovered by a lower rank noble without any mana and magical powers, who was travelling on a long journey of exploring the world. That person was the first emperor of Eldoria empire. Mathilda von Richthofen, widely known as 'Goddess of Eldoria'.
One time, when Mathilda was fighting against a beast, she got injured and in order to hide from that blood thirsty beast she entered a dark forest, where that beast also hesitated to go.
As Mathilda didn't complete her goals yet, she couldn't die, she has to live to see the beautiful world that the God has created. Those thoughts kept her alive even sustaining a big injury, she only had one thought that was, 'to live'.
On entering the forest, her exhausted body fall on the ground, even the moon's light reached with difficulty. Her consciousness leaving her mind, her heavy eyes unable to keep itself open, closed. Blood gushing out from the left side of her stomach, where the claws marks were present.
However, when she thought she would meet her end here in this dark place where no one would even find her body, a miracle happened.
A bright light that was glowing in translucent blue, covered the entire area. Though Mathilda was unconscious, so she didn't witness that bright light and it source, otherwise she would have been surprised to see that the translucent light was coming from within herself.
"Wait a minute. Doesn't it just describe the same glowing light that was coming from me on that assassination day?" Dew, eyes-wide in surprise, exclaimed when he found that same thing in the book about the first Emperor of Eldoria.
The study room of the emperor was lit brightly, and at the center of which stood, a large, polished study table laid with many books, paperwork, different types of quills and the obsidian ink.
Dew's slender and long fingers tightened its grip on the book as he flipped to next page with furrowed eyebrows, believing there is connection between those two lights.
'The sky holder descent the mortal realm.
Mortals wondering, why the sun shines in blue flame.
As the Injured intruder gained fairy's power,
Golden cascade lost it shine.'
"..." Unreadable expression of Dew made it impossible to know Dew's inner monologue. He stared at the sentences written in the next page.
"Is it a riddle? But why? Everything from the start of this book was detailed and was easy to comprehend, however next pages are ripped, and the last thing is this. A riddle! I didn't even find a clue about anything. This book was not even mentioned in the novel."
Dew spoke out of frustration; he didn't understand where the novel plot is going now. The novel plot is completely messed up. First it started with that assassination attack, magical powers, alive dead man and now this riddle!
Earlier in the library after conversing with Sigurd, he found a book, which titled was, 'Valeria's cursed spell.' Unknowingly Dew's hand fall on that book, and when his eyes caught the title, an inner voice urged him to read it.
"In the title it mentions Valeria's curse, however, I didn't find a single mention of it even after reading more than half of the book. Even so, what I read till now was not related to the book title, I get important information." Dew said to himself.
Dew put the book down on the table, his head tilted backwards as he leaned back, his eyes staring at the intricate patterns on the ceiling.
His mind recalling and trying to puzzle all the pieces back to its place. 'I never had thought that the first emperor would be a woman, and that blue light was for sure her mana, just like mine. I don't recall of her having any mana or magical power as it was clearly mentioned that she was just a low rank noble without any mana or magical powers. But when her life was in danger, her mana got activated resulting in saving her life just like in my case.'
He had not forgotten about that power that stop him from crossing the bridge of afterlife. The feel of power, however, he didn't witness that power again. 'Does it only activate if my life is in danger? Nope I don't think that would be the case, maybe I'm missing something....oh wait, that riddle also seems to be saying something.'
'If I'm correct, the injured intruder is Mathilda, but I don't yet understand the meaning behind other words. I think, I have to visit 'my' teacher.' Dew made the decision to give a visit to that old man.
But at that moment, a knock was sounded.
Dew's ear moved subtly in the direction of the sound, as he thought, 'It must be Ruprecht who have come to ask about supper.'
Thinking that he permitted, however the person that greeted him was not Ruprecht but her.
As in the emperor's room, an unexpected person greeted His Majesty, at the same time, in the alleyway of capital city of the empire, Ginnah, an exchange took place in one of the local inns of the capital city.
A person dressed in dark green cloak; their face covered with the hood, entered the inn through the wooden door. Upon entering, that person's gaze analyzed the surrounding.
A big, burly man who stood at the counter, writing something as he noticed the new customer that just came in.
All the other people in the inn, look in his direction but shortly after a look continued to what they were doing before. Even at this time of the inn, it was bustling with people, giving an impression of lively environment.
He made his way to the counter, the sound of his footsteps muffled by the loud laughter and chatting of the people.
The big burly man, appearing fierce and scary and a cut across his left eyebrow added a point to his fierce expression, asked the man in front of him.
"What do you want?" his voice loud, and heavy perfectly fitting him.
"Money." The man answered the question as he casually put his arm on the counter table.
"I don't sell that. Ask other inns." Not even a hint of surprise surface on that burly man as he replied to the man before in flat tone.
A chuckle slipped past the man's lips as he not expected that kind of reply, "I'm not asking for your money. Don't fret. I'm talking about the money that Duke Heydrich gave you." The man cleared himself. The burly man took an analyzing glare at him as he confirmed his identity.
"Wait here." With that said he went inside the back room present behind the counter.
The man in cloak stood there, and when that burly man was completely out of sight, he couldn't help but exclaim "What an odd man."
